Fifty Plus (50+) - OT: I'm off to City Hall

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Our company was nominated for the Toronto Bicycle Friendly Business Awards and we won!...for best bike parking...and we came in second in several other categories.
So I'm off to City Hall tonight, get fed, and come home with a trophy. Just hope that I don't have to meet the mayor...nobody likes the guy anymore...

It's nice to see companies doing things like this for their customers/employees.

thanks...we we bought and renovated our new office, we took our bike commuters into account, about 50% are bike commuters, several ride year round (I didn't miss a day last year!)
not just our 10 bike rack in the back, we have indoor bike parking when it rains and snows, complete laundry facilities for our commuters, showers, lockers for those that keep a change of clothes here, ceiling heat lamps for those that commute in winter, keyless entry to make it easier to get your bike inside, outdoor bike washing facilities...and more
For commuters caught by bad weather, they can crash overnight...plasma TV, Jacuzzi, bar, and pull out couch...in summer there's the rooftop deck with BBQ...full kitchen facilities as well

Congratulations.
Our bicycle advocacy group, Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas is giving it's first Bicycle Friendly Enterprise award tonight. To the local bus company, cat.org, for putting bike racks on all its buses.

Just wondering from your office picture, do you work at home? Is that why your office has all those cycling features?

no...this is our office. The house was built in the 1890's and we removed every interior wall when we renovated.
So, the basement has the kitchen, laundry, wine cellar, 2 bathrooms, shower room, two dressing areas with vanities/sinks, heat lamps, lockers, storage space, and an employee lunch area.
The first and second floors have 20 work stations and the door to the roof top deck.
The third floor is our lounge. 50" plasma TV, bar, exercise equipment, couches, bathtub, bathroom, dressing area with sink and vanity and the company office...lots of skylights
Casual dress is encouraged as well

I don't care what your business is... can I get a job there?

we're headhunters, and yes, we're hiring (not really hiring as we're all self employed on a commision based fee strucure, sharing expenses...a lot like doctors in a clinic or real estate agents...new people meet with the group, and if we like you, we'll give you a desk). The only thing we ask is that you respect our work hours, 9:30-5:00 Mon-Thur, 9:30-noon on Fidays. We usually close in December for Christmas holidays, and many take the summer off.
We make stupid money and have fun...best kept secret in the world
EDIT: The winners are posted on their website...maybe I'll post some pics on Monday...nice trophy, award signed by our mayor

Damn... I'd love to go for a gig like that, unfortunately to do so I'd have to uproot three people, including myself, and move to another country.

you may have similar companies in your area, but, we're somewhat unique...we're actualy shrinking. At one time we had over 200 people, but as we got older, lifestyle issues became more important. So we're down to 20, 10 more to go, then I'm moving to Spain
Good job. My site won one of the awards 10 or 12 years ago but the City Hall website doesn't go back that far. It was before the city's amalgamation.
