Mountain Biking - Bike Question

Well I finally brought my bike in to bike zone to be put together finally. When I brought the parts in he was like "doing some dirt jumping?" and I said not really just some good trail riding with an occasional drop off or jumps but nothing like the jumps you will see on a dj course. He then tells me that the '03 Rocky Mountain Flow that I am having put together with a marzocchi all mountain III fork kinda sucks for trail riding that's not what it is designed for.
That kind of confused me because it is still a mountain bike I woud think it would be capable of pretty much any kind of riding I will be doing. So is he full of sh*t?
What's really sucking now is they called me up today and said it would take at least 3 weeks for them to build it. So I guess I just have to have some patience but that is a long time just to build a bike....maybe they are booked with building others.

Well it definitely won't be the most comfortable or efficient trail bike out there but it will work.

Yup, I'm a decent wrench and I can build a bike in two or three hours if all goes smoothly. That is if my wife's not around, the tv is off, my dog isn't hitting me up for belly rubs, the phone isn't ringing and there is no beer in the fridge. If any of those are around then it could end up taking a bit longer. :o

For one it is going to weigh a ton and it is going to be as stiff as riding a steel post. Most cross country / all mountain bikes provide a little flex in the rear, this one isn't going to. That is one of the cheif complaints about this frame, it is extremely stiff! It is also going to be pretty heavy.

There are a lot of good hardtails out there for general riding, this just doesn't really appear to be one of them.

Well that really bums me out. Good thing is the only thing rocky mountain flow about it is the frame....everything else is shimano, and also have $400 rims on it that can take a tubeless tire. I still would like a full suspension bike so could anyone suggest a good frame?? I can then have it built up from there using the parts from the flow........I'm still going to ride the sh*t out of the flow but still would like a full suspension. Sorry for sounding dumb but I am new to this.

BTW I'm referring to the 2003 rocky mountain flow not the dj. But still yeah the frame is definnately stiff as can be. I'll try it out but still I eventually want a FS bike no doubt. Just have to take it 1 bike at a time.:D

Congratulations, I think you will get much more enjoyment out of that frame. Your build looks fine, make sure you post some pictures and a ride report.

Yeah well I need to know very quickly I'm 5'11" should I get the 19" frame or the 20" frame? Thanks again.

20" sounds pretty big to me. I'm 5'10" and generally ride around an 18".

well I only have the 2 options so it looks like I'll be going with the 19"....I'm just a tad over 5'11" so I think that should be fine....I'm around 230 pounds don't know it that makes a difference or not.

well looks like I might be ordering the 19" frame....the way I see it....the Rocky mountain flow I have is 20" and it seems just a tad too tall but still comfortable....so thinking of it an inch less seems like it would be just right....I guess I can just run to bike zone tomorrow and see what they think.
