Ok fellas, i'm looking to buy my first MTB. My price range is 0-350ish for now. We have a huge park called Shelby near by with lots of good trails and whatnot so I plan to be riding out there a lot, but also I will be riding too and from school when it's cool enough to leave the car. As well as just around town for fun. So i'm on the road and on the dirt. As i've read I'm thinking a hardtail is gonna be the way to go, but maybe a full? I found these Forge bikes online that are very affordable and have gotten crazy good reviews (Forgebikes.com) They have a 5xx hardtail 19in. for around $320 and a FS at $350. I'm also not against used bikes. So i'm kinda new to all this. What do you guys think about these forges? HT or FS? other recomendations? Thanks

Michael

By looking at the sites the hardtail looks good. It has good entry level components for that price. Do not get the full suspension. The reason being that they have to pay extra for the cheap coil spring and diff frame design, which takes money away from the driveline components making the bike worse. You could find a good used bike from 2003 on up on craigslist if you wanted to. I just dont know much about their frames or quality. Good luck finding a bike.

Your best bet would be to buy a used bike.

Ok, I just got done reading all of this thread http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=199758. It seems these Forges are a new breed trapped in a stereotype. Read up boys, i'm leaning towards them

they are great bikes, i have one. They are older Giant Yukons. Well worth the money and they have great customer service! Swap out the forks though, Rockshox dart 1 are worthless!
