I've got a thread going about buying a used tandem and the responses have been helpful and kind. Really, better than any other sub forum on these pages.

And whenever I met a couple out on a tandem they always smile and have nice things to say. Friendly, outgoing, super people.

Never met a tandem person that left me feeling cold.

Is it something about the bike?

Whatever it is, you people are first rate.

QUOTE]

Yep, that is what we all do, blame the bike, forget that it is the legs, the spirit, the team effort....

Only people in the pursuit of happiness manage to stay together in such an unlikely contraption.

Thanks for the compliment.

As a well-know cyclist put it "It's not about the bike".

Sorry - I coudn't resist. However, I agree with your perception. My view is that cyclists in general are "good people" & tandemists tend to be good cyclists. The tandem subculture tends to be older (I think) and age often fosters courtesy. Though some can be competetive, it doesn't seem to get in the way of comraderie. Most are more than willing to help out to spread the religion.

Good luck on your search for a tandem.

I agree with all the comments here also. It's just something about the tandeming sub culture, they are nice and friendly people, very nice to be around.

Mayonnaise, best of luck on getting your tandem here, let us know when you get it, we always like pictures here on the forums of bikes, if you know how to get the picture from camera to this forum..

Oh also, I noticed that you're in the chicago area, the reason I bring this up, is because at this years midwest tandem rally, my Mom was talking to a couple from that area also, about the cycle camp/week that Mom and I go to down in florida each year. I don't think she was talking to you because these people already had a tandem, but they were interested in the week that we spend down there getting our legs and butts in shape for the upcoming season..If you get your tandem befor the end of february this coming year, and are interested in joining us in Lake Wales Florida (an hour south of Orlando), for a week of cycling on your tandem, write back here or PM me and I can give you details..

That goes also for any of you tandem folks out there also on this forum. This will be the 3rd year that Mom and I have gone down there and it's a fun week..

Take care and keep on riding!!

Hey! I totally agree - Zonatandem - Rudy and Kay have been fielding tons of emails from me by tracking them down on this site. They live in AZ, as do we and they have been more than helpful! Tandem people are awesome. I hope to keep it up as long as the Zonatandem team have (32 +years)!
Take care and Ride safe...
