Bicycle Mechanics - Javelin frame issue

I just bought and built a Javelin Brunello frame. all SRAM components were used. The bottom bracket cable guide provided by mfg. does not extend to bottom hole which front derailleur cable passes through. Mfg. said "we know about this but it shouldn't affect performance." IT DOES. They won't do anything. Any suggestions?

What exactly do you mean by bottom braket cable guide?

The plastic cable guide that attaches to the bottom bracket housing. It is a plastic/or metal piece with two channels to guide the derailleur cables back to the rear derailler via the chain stay and up to the frond derailleur via wrapping under, and up behind the bottom bracket. The guide on the bike is too short for the frame in that 1/4 inch of aluminum is showing between bracket and hole cable gets routed through to continue up to front derailleur. The cable is in such harsh contact with frame that shifting of chain rings is VERY difficult. Basically, Javelin said "oh well." any suggestions

Could you move the plastic guide slightly to a better position? This may require that you to remove any existing fastening bolt/screw, and glue the plastic guide in place. Or you could purchase a Shimano plastic guide and glue it in place.

OK if i understood the Bottom bracket Cable guide is too short? Well U can get a new one at ebay or the web, but usually the issue do not affect the performance at all. I have seen that in several AL bikes and they work fine. My old Ridley had the same problem. Well I was using campagnolo anyways, not sram.

If the frame was Carbon I would be super worried but in steel and aluminum isnt a problem at all. Wonder what kind of cable are u using anyways. Probably thats your problem. I have no experience with sram niether with last shimano components generations but probably the problem is the way the cable is twisted. My sugestion is change it for something like the shimano one the shimano cable threads are super soft and the campy ones, I suggest shimano cables because I doubt the campy cable set will work in sram at all, probably im wrong.

There is a very thin plastic tubing available that was used as a separate liner inside unlined brake cable housing. Shimano still sells it in 6' rolls for about $2. The part number is Y80098100 and your LBS either has it or can order it.

I use it to cover the open runs of brake cable on the top tube of my bike but you could use a short section to protect the bb shell and give your FD cable something slippery to run inside of.
