Someone told me there was a biking convention or something of the sort in Toronto in October? Has anyone heard about this?
Or.... can someone recommend some places to get last season's bikes (2007, 2006,2005 etc) new bikes? I don't get where the old models of bikes go, I'd love to get an older model on clearance somewhere for a good price.

Toronto fall blowout bicycle show. Or so they say.

Oct 13 and the Ex. Some deals, some not deals. Always fun to look.

I found some amazing deals last year, I say don't be afraid to bargain. And it was interesting to see the price variation between the various stores there, the bike I was looking at for under 2k could have up to $200 difference.

Right on! Heard that as the day drags on, bike prices start to fall. I'll be there for sure! :)

you should have an idea before you go about what you want and what size you want. It gets pretty hectic and very crowded. It's a difficult environment in which to shop unless you already have a pretty good idea what you want.
But, there can be some pretty good deals. I got a pair of Nike road shoes for about $120 off and I love them.

great thanks!
Does anyone know if the prices are cheaper than the spring convention? I have major exams the following monday and will be deep in the books!

I haven't been to the spring one but I'd go for the fall one... mainly cause I'm guessing there will be more inventory of different sizes as opposed to the show in the spring . Also, spring time is when everyone is thinking of getting a bike since it's the start of the season as opposed to fall when stores don't move that many, so there would be no point for stores to sell really cheap in the spring (prob you can forget about bargaining).

Just try to make it for the opening when the selection is best and be out of there in a few hours.

One more thing.... last year when I was bike shopping b4 the show, I mentioned to the stores that I'm waiting to go to it before I commit to buy and most of them were willing to lower to "show price".

Probably a stupid question, but do they sell road bikes here? Many of the pictures and the guests seem to be directed towards mountain/freestyle.

skiracing

Yep they do tons of mtb and road, not so much "freestyle".
