Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - 160 FG miles

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So, this past weekend I went on a micro-bike tour, 160 miles in 2 days on my fixed gear w/ camping equip. Ran a 44x17 gear. We did the Greenbrier River trail, a beautiful (but flat) and remote trail in West Virginia that goes beside the Greenbrier River. Hardly a soul was seen, but we did see a black bear and her two cubs on the trail, along with lots of deer, a few snakes and a couple of turtles creeping along the trail. Rain held out for the most part, with us getting a bit midway through the first day.
One of the other riders ran an SS Karate Monkey and posted a pretty good write up and pictures here (http://forums13.consumerreview.com/crforum?viewall@114.gVVwah2FIHC.2@.efc2fd0)
A pretty cool bridge followed by a tunnel through the mountain.

You are a maniac. :D The furthest I have gone is about 75 miles in a day. Second would be Fort Lauderdale airport to South Beach, Miami. (That was only about 30 miles.)
Are those your regular wheels/tires? What size are they? How'd the bike hold up?

Bike held up fine, but I'm getting ready to retire the frame - it's a pig and has a lot of flex when the rack is heavily loaded (not this trip). Just got a blood red Surly Cross-check.
Sweet! The trip sounds like it was a blast!
What kind of handlebars are those?

What kind of handlebars are those? Moustache bars. They rock! So much fun to ride. You can see an overhead picture of them here (http://www.rivbike.com/webalog/handlebars_stems_tape/16027.html).

Hey thanks, RiderX........
ShrimpX.......no they're not tubulars. They're Parriba Pro Courses.....got them on sale from Nashbar several months back. Wish I had gotten more...
I'm going to do some of the Katy trail in MO on my Singlespeed.
