You know that you want to use a fixed gear for track standing on a flat surface, right? If you are trackstanding that freewheel bike in the pool, you have far better balance than I do ;) I can track stand a freewheel bike for MAYBE 15 seconds.

Any pavement with a slight rise is a good place to learn how to trackstand, that pool isn't a good place

Especially with the tension ratcheted up as high as it will go.
