Hi,
I've been sewing up some hip pouches, and they are available for sale. There is more information and more photos HERE (http://www.flickr.com/photos/shufflerepeat/sets/72157602226076963/).
The pouches are made of two layers of 18oz vinyl coated polyester (the tarp material used to line most messenger bags), and can carry a good amount of stuff. I currently have six available for sale:
Red, yellow interior, u-lock holster, $32 shipped to US/Canada.
Black, grey interior, u-lock holster, $32 shipped to US/Canada.
Green, grey interior, u-lock holster, $32 shipped to US/Canada.
Blue, grey interior, u-lock holster, $32 shipped to US/Canada.
Red, grey interior, no u-lock holster, $25 shipped to US/Canada.
Yellow, grey interior, no u-lock holster, $25 shipped to US/Canada.
The u-lock holster looks like this:
And the pouches without holsters look like this:
Personally, I prefer them without the holster, but I seem to be in the minority. A mini u-lock will easily fit inside the pouch. Here's an idea of the size and what you can cram into one of them:
