Pacific Northwest - Nice ride this morning

It wasn't raining, windy, or exceptionally cold. I just bundled up in my regular warm clothes and off into the sunrise (well, after a while the sun started to come up) I rode. Much nicer than the rest of this week has been. Traffic was light and nobody tried to kill me for a change. All in all, a very pleasant ride in.

Plus, I got the chance to try out my new glove and shoe dryer that came yesterday. I had it running overnight drying out my shoes and gloves, then again for a little while before my ride to warm up the gloves. Mmmmmm...toasty hands and feet. Today I'm trying out the new portable glove dryer that I brought to the office.

Before you ask, yes, my gloves are waterproof. However, my hands sweat when I ride hard for a long time, and I ride between an hour and an hour and a half each way, so they can get wet inside. Dry gloves make for happy hands.

I didn't go for a ride today (well, not yet)--I'm enjoying a nasty migraine right now.

+1 on the morning commute. I left the house at 4:15 it was 48 degrees in Sumner. Got plenty warm by the time I go to Auburn. should be noce this afternoon on the way home. Enjoy today cause tomorrow is gonna be cruddy

try glove liners they dry out pretty fast. I am commuting home tonight (34 miles) because it looks like the last time until next spring :(

with the wetter than normal prediction for our weather I think I should sign up for spin classes to keep in shape for the summer riding season. I commute year round but it is only about 4 miles a day since I take the bus.

It is cold and drizzling where I am, but the ride in was very nice--punctuated with a stop to pick up a toasted bagel with hummus! This is my favorite time of year.

Oooh! That does sound good, doesn't it? I know, it's crazy, but I kinda like riding in the rain....this is also my favourite time of the year (except for those huge piles of decaying bigleaf maple leaves).

riding soon seattle to eastside to meet a buddy for lunch. looks like pleasant, not too warm, not too cool. I bet I'll be overdressed this afternoon.

Very nice day for a ride - did 2 hours out to Marymoor and back. Overdressed but nice to be warm after cold earlier in the week.

I live in Burien and work just north of the Olympic Sculpture Park on Western. My route in is to get on Des Moines Way and follow that all the way down through South Park and over the South Park Bridge to Boeing Field and West Marginal. I ride North on West Marginal to Ellis, where I turn East again and go over to Airport. I take Airport almost all the way up to Royal Brougham, turning West a couple of blocks before it actually intersects with Airport, going over to Sixth, and riding up Sixth to Royal Brougham. The Airport Way/Royal Brougham intersection is a mess to deal with on a bike. I ride Royal Brougham west between Safeco and Qwest fields to the waterfront at Alaskan. I then ride north on Alaskan, following the turn up the hill at the end to Western. North on Western to just past the Sculpture Park and I'm at the building! It's just under 14 miles each way using that route. There's another route I could take that would cut about a mile off, but it would also leave me on West Marginal for much longer, where the speed limit is 45 and there's no shoulder at all.

I've tried the inserts before and didn't like them. They just didn't feel good to me. I really like these new dryers/heaters I've got, though!

Sorry for the rain down south. I guess its going to be coming our way just in time for the weekend, though. Lucky us!

...so nice, after lunch I rode the south end of Lake Washington to get back to Seattle. perfect fall riding weather today. hope more enjoyed their rides today, this type of weather is rightous for bicycling!

It was nice down in Oly, too. I'm working at home today, so, no commute in to work. I did take "lunch" at 230pm and went for a spin. Not enough wind to even talk about (especially compared to Tuesday's wind in Seattle--ugh). I even saw blue sky on my ride!

Portland was lovely today. I just worked a half day to make up for having to work last weekend, so I got out at noon. The ride home via a few errands was fantastic. I agree with Bek - this is just about the best kind of weather to be riding in.

Great ride today. Left around 11am when it was about 50f. Rode from the Sammamish Plateau to Marymoor Park where I picked up the Sammamish Trail. Rode that until I arrived at Bothell Landing. Turned around and headed back. About 36 miles total.

I should have left the CRAFT l/s base layer at home. Hands and feet were warm.

Raisin bran...yes, especially as it is so good at concealing those big rocky raisins known at 'broken bits off the dang cottonwoods'. Good at hiding the potholes, too :) .

I'm so jealous - I was chained to a desk yesterday. :mad: Although I picked up a nice pair of full length gloves for $11 at REI last night.

From what I could tell, the sun peaked out for a while up North.
