I want that stem.

I want input from the guys that were looking to try ordering a small-scale batch of custom Mercs. What do you all think? Does this top them? At a fair price?

I honestly see US$12000 as a nice US$2000 bike plus 10 US$1000 trips. I'm sure this Ti bike rides significantly superior to the custom mercs, but I cannot see a decent reason to justify it for my specific use. I'm sure someone will post here some circumstances that this bike will be the only one to allow you to do it...but for me...I would rather go further with my cheapo Brommie.

I misread Yan's post. I was skimming and saw $1200. I was assuming that was the non-Rohloff version of course.

Too bad, it looked so nice. If it were steel instead of Ti, and $1200 instead of $12000, I'd be intrigued, maybe enough to save up for it.

The bike is ultimate at least in one regard. The bike will, ultimately, never become part of my collection.

It does seem like something that would come out of one of Bruce Wayne's R&D laboratories. Intriguing, capable, but so outrageously expensive that only rich playboys could afford it, which is why Batman has all kinds of cool toys that regular folks don't.

What? He's actually going to put that thing in production? Who is going to make it?

If I was his financial advisor I'd recommend he starts making the stem as a third-party Brompton upgrade and then use the cash made (a Lot of people would want something like that - me included) to pump into getting the production of the frames costs down. It's sweet though - hopefully not fashioned of purest unobtainium in the end.

I would imagine 'production' means not mass production, but rather built to order for the few dedicated enthusiasts who have enough cash. Perhaps that will be less than 100.

I watched because it was interesting but it's way out of my price range. But I was intrigued by one "throw away" comment near the end of the reel:

Any other whispers/rumors about that elsewhere?
