Introductions - Hi from Naples, Fl and Bristol, In.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Found the link to this website in with the too many others in my bicycling folder. I think it goes back a couple years and I finally decided to sign up. Been back to road biking since my knee surgeries made me give up running and racquetball.
Anyway, I spend most of my time in Naples now and do about 35 miles every other day. It's pretty good Spring, Summer, Fall but gets pretty hazardous in the winter. This is gonna be the first time I'll be in
Naples for most of the winter so we'll see. I've been a solo rider for the most part... I'm pretty pathetic about obeying traffic laws so most groups that I run across give me good pursuit practice since I have to sprint after every stop sign to catch back up!

When traveling I haul along a fold out mountain bike and use it for rail trails, etc.

Bristol, In. is very close to southern Michigan... some of the best biking terrain I've ever encountered. Miles and miles of lightly traveled but well maintained roads... especially nice during leaf change time in the fall! Many lakes and smooth grades makes for easy long distance travel. My favorite route is about 65 miles round trip North to Three Rivers and back.

See you on the Road!

Hello jskinner73, you're doing a good job if you are managing 35 miles every other day...what kind of bike are you riding?

Welcome to BF!

I've got a Specialized Allez in Fl. and a Trek Pilot 5.9 in In. The more I ride, the shorter 35 seems! Plus... I have the strength of ten because my heart is pure!

I know even the length of my commute draws gasps of astonishment from my co-workers (a whole 8.5 miles one way), so yours must make people faint :p .

And yet, as you've discovered, it's not really that far. Of course, your heart is pure, so it's much easier :D .

What is commute? Does that have something to do with having to be somewhere some time? BTW, 73 is the year I graduated from Penn State, not my age.
I've been retired for about five year so I do the biking for fun and to slow down mother nature and gravity's efforts to win the war.

I did manage to imply that you commuted, didn't I? Sorry! A reflection on my ride, not yours :D .

Slowing down gravity's efforts does seem easier on a bicycle...
