I'm riding out to Redondo Beach on Sunday for a Bar-B-Q and need some help from the locals on the best way to get there. I'm leaving my house in Corona about 8am and will meander down to the SART, go N on PCH and then where? I don't think PCH is the best way thru is it? It seems riding on PCH thru Long Beach has a lot of traffic.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I think going all the way to the beach will add several miles to your trip. Did you think about taking Katella from SART and continuing on Willow?

I really don't mind the mileage and was looking forward to a longer ride on Sunday. I've never ridden PCH north of Seal Beach though.
Thanks again for the help.

This is actually a nice ride with lots of variety--the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
There are 2 areas that are a little tricky:
1) Long Beach (Naples area):
--As you're coming up PCH from Seal Beach,
--Pass Seal Beach Blvd.
--Turn left on Marina Drive.
--Cross the bridge, stay right on North Marina Dr. (It turns into East Marina Dr.)
--Turn left on East 2nd St. and cross the bridge. You're now in the Naples area.
--Cross a second bridge. Exiting Naples.
--Immediately after the bridge, turn left on Bay Shore Ave.
--In a couple of blocks, you'll hit the beach bike path. Go right.
--Relax and follow this path all the way to the Long Beach Marina.
--Right before you reach Shoreline Village, turn right and cut through the parking lot. Don't continue straight.
--Stay to your left. You will follow a pedestrian path that skirts the water.
--Pass the LB Aquarium and immediately turn right through a parking lot. You will rejoin the bike path.
--Stay to the left, skirting the water. You will pass Catalina Express Shuttle.
--Continue staying to the left. You will pass a slough and a trailer park.
--Turn right on the LA River Bike Path.
2) Rolling into PV/Redondo Beach (This gets a little ugly):
--Exit the bike path at PCH. (Watch the signs on the bike path, no exit at Anaheim St.) Go west, crossing over the "river" and 710 Fwy. (You can continue PCH all the way to Torrance Beach but it's a death trap)
--Instead, turn left on Santa Fe Ave., then right on Anaheim Street. This is an industrial area--Sunday traffic should be light.
--Go west, passing Harbor Regional Park on your right. (past home to Reggie the Alligator)
--You'll come to a 5-point intersection. Turn left on Palos Verdes Drive North.
--Enjoy the rolling hills and scenery. This is the best part of the ride.
--Turn right at Palos Verdes Blvd--a triangular intersection.
--Almost immediately, turn left at Paseo de la Playa (easy to miss)
--Follow it downhill. At the bottom, there is a stop sign. Turn left.
--You will meet up with the South Bay Bike Path. This is Torrance Beach.
--Follow the path a couple of miles and you will reach the Redondo Beach Pier.
Hope this helps.

Perfect, thank you! I'm going to try and routeslip it and bring a map with me.
Thanks again,
Sam
