Can anyone recommend a touring friendly LBS in the D/FW area. Up until recently I have been pretty much just a roadie, but now find my interests are running more toward the touring side. I frequent Richardson Bike Mart, but I have not found that the shop personnel I deal with are much in tune with touring and its specific needs versus carbon road bike racing. Anyway, I would like to find a shop with some knowledge in the arena of touring and that might also carry some more touring specific bikes and equipment. I do travel a lot so any recommendations on shops in other parts of Texas are welcome as well. I will also take any suggestions on shops in surrounding states. Thanks.

Good luck on this one. I got tired of being lectured about how "nobody runs seven speed anymore" everytime I go in the shop to get a tire trued. My best experience in the Metroplex is over on the far SW side of Fort Worth, at the Bikes, Inc. shop on I-30 and Grandbury road. They don't laugh at my early 90's 520. Matter of fact, they ask me about the bars and stems and how I like the B-67 saddle.

Richardson Bike Mart can fit you with a new Co-Motion if you want, but they're more into middle range hybrids for soccer moms, and Lance Wannabes, at least IMHO.I get tired of being lectured about how "nobody runs seven speed anymore" everytime I go in a shop to get a tire trued.

This isnt the first choice many make, but you may check out REI. I dont know if all locations
have a bike shop, but the Plano one does. Since they sell panniers, outdoor equipment, etc, I
think they would welcome touring bikes for repair without hassle.
