I filled out your survey, here are the answers that didn't fit your choices:

Approximately how much weight do you typically carry?
I regularly carry 70 to 80 lbs with rack and panniers while grocery shopping.

What is the approximate volume of goods that you typically carry on your bicycle?
No idea. I don't measure volume. ;)

What best describes your bicycle usage?
You didn't give an 'all of the above' option, or multiple choice. I don't do 'mountain biking', but I do take my bike on some single track trails.

I will carry things in a single rear pannier, 2 rear panniers, on the back rack in a cargo net, and in a backpack. I can also borrow a cargo trailer, tho I don't own one. Weight will get up to about 45 lbs before current bike decides to develop scary handling. If I need to carry more, I take more trips. Current bike is slated to be replaced with one that can carry a load in front and in back to improve load balancing.

The barrier to adding additional transport tools is not cost. It's weight. My apartment building provides indoor, locked storage for bicycles in the basement. The landlord requires that tenants not park bicycles elsewhere. Very reasonable, but it means I need to be able to carry my bike up and down stairs. So a bakfiets or xtracycle is not very feasible. A cargo trailer is reasonable, since those are much lighter and I can take two trips upstairs.

I didn't complete the survey. With the way it is written, I can't answer the questions accurately. If I tried, the view of how I ride and what I carry would be so different from my reality, that I feel uncomfortable participating. Sorry about that.

I had problems because your distances were all given in kilometers. In the US we still use miles.
