Mountain Biking - Ritchey 2007/2008

hello,
Riders here use Ritchey components (pro,comp,wcs) ? experience of use,satisfaction of it ? carbon or alu ?

After being mesured because i needed a good XC position on my bike and being shure not having back,neck or knee problems,they told for a more competitieve style and confort in my riding i needed to change my bar (from 64cm rizer to 58cm flat),stem (from 10cm to 12cm 6° angle) and 1 spacers of 10mm instead of 20mm.
my bike is now set up with Fsa components ,for the changes i would go Ritchey because of a good weight and strenght compomise.
I think i'll go WCS for all and alu instead of carbon(carbon is scary IF i wouldlike to go extreme riding it wouldn't brake ^^).
so it will be: -wcs flat mountain bar 58cm
-bar ends wcs short
-grips ergo wcs
-wcs stem 4axis 12cm 6°angle
-2 x 5mm spacers carbon
-seatpost wcs carbon or alu
is this a good choice or u people recommend something else or better still in those weight range like ritchey proposes ? i would prefere staying in one brand so it would stay estetik and keep a nice look.
i'll go ritchey 2007 or wait for 2008 components,here the color changes for mat black to shiny black (wet finish)..

I use a lot of ritchey stuff. Their 4 axis stem is rediculously light for the price. I also use a set of carbon low rizer bars. The shape is really nice. For a really bargain, check out their Streem saddles.

I was wondering about this as well. My old bike has a much longer stem than my new one, and the angle is much different. Most new bike come with some pretty short stems these days, anybody know, is it the new geometrys or something? How did you get measured for this?

By the way, your bike looks very nice and erm. . .clean. Some might say, too clean. :)

The short stems are more for AllMountain , Downhill .. riding because of a quicker respond of your steering and long bars 64 to 72 cm for better controle in ruff terrain.
My bike came with a 10cm stem and low rizer bar 64cm (like u see on the pictures its more AM set up),but when measured and my type of riding is more XC (40km to marathons 80km) i have being told to change the set up with longer stem (also for more confort) and shorter bar 58cm max (for bether technique when between trees and branches...)
-->the measurements where made by a good friend of me (a top trialtleet) this in the bikeshop where he is sponsered by.they measure the lenght of everything really ^^ inseam,foot,arms,torso,total lenght ... this put into a computer and tells me wich set up for wich type of riding soots me the best.

like u gyes say "delay" and "z415", Ritchey seams to be the best..

"delay" low rizer carbon,what type of riding u do ? cause i changed my mind about carbon and will stik to alu --> more secure mentally (alu bends before braking and carbon brake instantly and it is pricy)

u can see that there is a new stem wcs 44 axis and colors have being changed to "wet black finish" wich is pretty nice looking and i bet a lot of eyes wil turn when i would pass by ..hihi..

"dealy" the only carbon i would take are the spacers and maybe a seatpost (the seatpost will not suffer to mutch due to the rear shok and in ruff terrain i'm mostly not sitting but standing)

I do exculsively xc riding and racing, so breaking the bar is not really a concern for me. I would assume though that their alu bars are the same shape.

That said, I have taken some nasty falls this season, including one that resulted in a broken collarbone, and the bars have always come out fine.

One more thing, the foam ritchey "true grips" are quite comfy and dirt cheap.

I can only say positive things about Ritchey.
