Triathlon - how do bikesizes compare.. road and TT

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Generally smaller (56 / 57 / 58), but there's enough variation in how bike sizes are specified across vendors and also enough variation in people's body proportions that a more specific answer is hard to give you.

I agree with Chris. For example, I ride a 54 road bike (Specialized Allez Pro) and a 51 tri bike (Cervelo P2 SL).

Top tube length and stem length will matter quite a bit, too. You might have to swap stems in order to get a proper fit.

Funny, both my Allez and my Transition are 54's, and both feel great. This is however, after a lot of time on the trainer, and trying different sizes, brands, etc. and a proper fitting at the LBS.
