Agreed.
Especially in terms of mental stamina: his being willing and able to withstand the vagaries of the trip, and not be cowed by adversity. Plus, just doing something that most people would deem crazy.
Strong will, strong mind -- now, THAT is white-hot. Any fool with good genetics and a photogenic mug is easily labelled the other kind of hot. This guy is different. Complex. Not easily reduced. In other words: not internet message-board hot -- rather, real-time, real-world hot.
A little depressing to read that his low point came here, stateside, when he was run over by a car and sustained two broken legs, with the threat of amputation hanging over him. Yikes.
