Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - fixed gear conversion; rear wheel and gear ratio question

So I have an old schwinn that is going to become a fixed gear. I want to spend as little money as I can right now to get it functional. I am going to build a new back wheel. I want to make the back wheel pretty nice, you may as well do it right the first time in this case. I am going 700c because i won't need to worry about a rear brake reaching and i have more selection in tires and rims. Also lighter and stronger than 27in(you knew that.) I am thinking a black Harris flipflop 36h hub. I originally was thinking nashbar flipflop hub because it is only $30 but it only comes in 32 spoke. I kind of wanted a 36 spoke rear wheel (is this necessary?, i want a strong wheel, and according to sheldon brown... idk.) Then I found the Harris hubs. They come in black and 36h and are $15 more which isn't too bad. For a rim I was thinking sun cr18. I found some site called kona sports(unrelated to kona bikes, as far as i can tell.) I don't really love places that sell everything, not just bikes. However, they have my 700c 36h sunringle cr18 for a good price.
And some double butted dt spokes
opinions?

ohh, and i like the crankset on the bike pretty well but i have to lose a chainring. There is a 40t and a 52t. I was thinking ditch the 40 and keep the 52. suggestions?

are u planning on lacing just 18 of the spokes on a 36h hub?

52x19 might be good, too. plus odd/even mix is good for skid patches.

It comes in 36 spoke drilling. I don't know much about rims and I didn't explore the possibilities extensively. I just found that for a price I would pay from a company I respected

haha, i just went and checked, my dads 10 year old cannondale mountain bike has cr 18's. They seem to hold pretty good true.

ok, 52/19? If memory serves that is 19 skid patches(same foot forward) because 52/19 is in lowest terms.
Where I live it isn't totally flat but not super hilly. This bike, at the moment, will be used for fun, bombing around town and such.
Any suggestions on cogs to buy? nashbar has "soma track kogs", which according to the description are great(i have no idea). They are $25 though. Can I get quality cogs for less? I don't want to but a size i don't like.
I suppose I can go count teeth on my tenspeed and see what I like. Will the size difference between 27in and 700c affect this method very much?

The difference in gearing between 27 inch and 700 wheels with the same gearing is not going to be too noticeable.

I just swapped the 27 by 1 tyres and wheels on my Peugeot for 700:25's and after doing the gear math didn't even lose a gear inch.

Soma track cogs are great, and $25 is the right price (unless someone knows where to get them cheaper, that's what I've always paid). Get a Dura-Ace lockring to hold it on and you won't have to worry about that stuff for a long time.

How much do you weigh? If less than 250-ish, a properly built 32 spoke wheel will be more than adequate.

haha, I just went and checked, 137 with clothes and all. Don't worry, I am 15, not anorexic. Then the question is $30 nashbar hub or $45 snazzy black harris hub!
