Northern California - So who else is riding Foxy's this year?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Didn't register in time, and it sold out. So I might try to show up early to get in with one of those 100 day of signups. :(

I'm registered. I hope my knee is up to it. The last time I rode it, the wind was so bad that I saw birds giving up and landing in open fields.

Red Rider and I will be there on our tandem. We are looking at a fast ride.

Like Azure, I didn't reg in time. Unlike Azure, I haven't been on the bike for any significant length of time for a couple of months. Any attempt at Foxy's would result in a dead Huy...not good. P.S. I've still have yet to ride Cantelow. Still been meaning to try this whole hill thing.
Unfortunately, I'll be out of state.

I'm in. Looking for a fast ride too but that may not happen since I'll be with about 6 first-time century riders.

I'll be there IF it's sunny, or at least free of rain. I don't want to ride 100 miles all alone, but I don't know anyone so maybe I'll just have to go for time or something.

Just make sure you hitch a ride with Cgallagh and Redrider. They will be on there co-motion tandem and they can move :D
We are doing the wine and cheese century on Sunday in Riverbank, 110 miles about 3300 feet elevation:

Right now the forcast is pretty good. Last year it was cloudy and until the last 30 miles or so. Made the non-flat part of the ride pleasant and probably reduced the Lake Berryessa traffic a lot.

I noticed on the website it said "over 2000' of climbing," but I was unable to find a profile for the route. I'm guessing the uphill segments are either real gradual or real short?

I'll be working the Solano Lake rest stop! Weather looks like it should clear up for Foxy.

I'll be wearing a flourescent orange jersey, as if Caltrans had a cycling team.
I made a map based on last years route. I think the start and finish are a bit different. One interesting thing. If you look at the elevation profile, "cardiac" is not even the most troublesome hill.

The route is quite different from that, particularly in the flats. I was on a ride yesterday to Catelow and found signs and markings on the road for this year's ride. The route through 121 and 128 should be the same. Who knows when the latest map will be released? I would like to see it prior to the day of.

We were there, as well...did you see a tandem spinning up the hill? Or bombing down the west side? :D
The weather has been so perfect for riding; we've seen dozens of people out. I prefer to see more bikes and fewer cars on our roads.

Didn't see a tandem. We took Gibson Canyon to Steiger then back to Cantelow. Went down the west side then back up before heading back to Davis. We were in the area from about 10-11 am. There were tons of bikes at or near the top, probably 15 or so when we were there. It was a nice day for sure.
Hope to see ya next weekend. I'll wear my Norcal jersey so look out!

Last year the start was on campus at the University Club. Usually it's at the Veterans Memorial Center in the north part of town.
What's the usual route in and out of Davis? Does it go down Russel to Stevenson Bridge road? Also, last year we had to head south down Stevenson Bridge and come back by way of Tremont. Kind of a drag to have to head into the wind at mile 90.
Some info for ya from the head of the volunteers...
"First, the ride starts and finishes from the Veteran's Memorial Center in Davis. This is different from last year, so please check the DBC Foxy page (http://www.davisbikeclub.org/foxys/2007/index.htm) for driving instructions. To map the location yourself, use 203 E 14th St, Davis, CA 95616.
Second, check in will begin at 7AM, and this year it's pretty dark at 7AM. We don't want anyone out on the course BEFORE 7AM, so opening check in at 7 should solve that problem. But, in the name of keeping everyone safe, I'd like to ask that riders planning to leave as early as possible PLEASE wear high visibility clothing and have lights. A flashing red rear blinky and white blinky in front will make you more visible and they don't weigh much.
Third, there will be some food and coffee (Peet's) available at the start and the DBC Race Team Master's Team is preparing a great meal for the finish. Likewise, the Rest Stops will be stocked with food and drinks. In addition to all this food, I have Cliff Shots Blocks to pass out for free, compliments of Cliff and Active.com. Please take several to try today or another day."

Was it my imagination or did we have a headwind the whole way? My time last year was faster.
