This is in Round Rock on Oct. 20th. I've just signed up for the 50-miler. Any opinions on how it stacks up with other area rides?

I'm also interested...has anyone done this ride?

I've ridden most of the roads on the Outlaw. The terrain is rolling farmland, with not many steep climbs. Roads are paved but there are some rough spots on the smaller county roads. I think the routes have changed since last year due to some construction closer in to Round Rock but overall there are no suprises. There might be more traffic on CR110 than people prefer.
My biggest concern would be wind on the returns. It usually is from the southeast.

And that sums up today nicely. Man it was gusty.
Note the brushy things in the road...they were zooming across the road from left to right:

Signed up for the 40, wound up doing 62. Wind seemed to get worse as the day progressed. By the last 5 miles, I would describe it as "angry."
How many did you wind up doing , phazer?
And what kind of a camera mount do you have? I had stuffed mine in my jersey, but the battery was low. :(

I did the 104 mile route and it was brutal. Many parts were due south straight into the wind, including riding Granger dam.
I have never drank so much, two water bottles each rest stop form 60-90 miles. I would like to know what the wind speed was, but I bet it was at least a steady 25-30.

I did the 100K but I was worn out at the end. I pretty much bonked. I guess I'm pleased that I finished but it's kind of tainted by how wretched I felt at the end.
Here's my camera mount:

It uses this device - I got it at universalcycles.com:

Funny that everywhere I saw this advertised had the same picture - which is basically upside down of how you'd want it.
The u-bolt didn't fit around my handlebar so I found a handlebar mount that had come with a light or something, got a long 1/4 screw and rigged it. Picture isn't too great but you can sort of tell. It does amazingly well considering the vibration. The best pics are off to the side.

I'm embarrassed to post this picture because it shows how long it took me (hey...I rested ALOT!). But look at the antennae and flags. There's that wicked wind - during a lull I think
