I'm deciding between the two. Do you think the flare on the randonneur is effective? Does the randos have a flat ramp like the noodle? Which do you ssuggest and why?

I have tried both and much prefer the Noodles. For one reason, the Noodle bars come in a larger range of sizes, up to 48cm; I believe the randos top out at 45. There is also more useful top bar space on the Noodles which overall makes them my favorite over the Dream, the Rando and the Deda bars I have on my road bikes.

I prefer the Noodle. Like CHenry said, there's more room on the tops and a nice flat section for your hands. If you need the swept back style of the rando hbar, consider using a shorter stem instead.

I rode flat bars, riser bars, and trekking bars for many years, every drop bar I tried I hated. On my new bike I went with the Noodles because they came in 48. I love them I don't think I will ever go back to any other bar. By the way they are very strong I landed on the bar sideways (broke two ribs) and expected the bars to be bent. Could not find any damage (to the bars)

Definitely a fan of the Noodles. I ride the 44s, I've heard the wider ones are even better, but I was coming from 39s and didn't want to make a huge leap. I also love riding on the shoulders of drop bars and the Noodles offer a great hand position for this.

Every bike I own that has drop bars has the Randonneurs.....

the tops are pretty flat and gives a good platform for climbs....

I especaially like how the drops flare out just a bit...I've had problems where if I'm climbing in the drops my forearms would hit the top section...however, with the rando's you get enough flare to avoid that...

Also, the drops aren't very deep relative to other bars so it gives you a fairly good position without contorting yourself...

Yes, yes and randonneur.

I also don't like especially wide bars either. But that's just me.

I've tried both. They're both great, but I like the Noodles slightly more because they're wider on the tops. My Rando bars were 42 at the flared drops, but between the hoods were only like 35 or 36cm. Way too narrow for when I wanted to sit up, like on climbs. Also too narrow for some handlebar bags. That's not an issue with Noodle bars as they have less flare and are available in wider sizes.

The Rando bars, though, are extremely comfortable in the drops - more so than the Noodles, I'd say. So it comes down to personal preference, really.
