There were 1,078 cyclocross racers at the Portalnd Oregon Cross Crusade race today!
Now for comparison....
In 2006:
Hillsboro: 600
Alpenrose: 760
We smashed the record.... 40% increase

A great race even Belgium waffels!
I raced Masters 50+ and Single Speed.
Dropped chain twice in 50+ and was close to DFL in Single Speed, but had a great time!

It was Cross-Madness out there yesterday :D. Talk about a great experience seeing all those people out there having such a good time. For my first real cyclocross race (I did Krugers a few weeks ago) it opened my eyes to how fun, hard, and entertaining cross can be. Can't wait for the next race I am able to do.:)

Well if that number is correct...and spread it out over 6 races during the day....some races must have had close to 300 riders on the course at the same time.

What was traffic like?
what was scoring like?

The traffic was pretty crazy, I was in the Master C and we started right after the C in the field with most riders, around 250, we did about 2 minutes of race and than I started running to pass the crowd, I did pass people all the time during the race and I was never really near any of my direct competitor, for sure it was not boring!
I don't know how they can do the scoring, they score all racers, it is crazy. OBRA is great.
See you guys next Sunday.
Ciao

By the way my wife and daugther were spectating and they loved the unicycles.
I guess there was one kid that was riding very good, so once we got home I heard about the people with one wheel only, I did not even see them this time, I guess they were pretty fast....

Holy carp. My Senior 3/4 (equiv. to Cat C, I guess) race on Sunday had 9 people. :D The only other people on the course at the time were Master 3 which had 14 racers. There was 111 total.
