Cyclocross Racing - Damn CX racing..damn it all to hell

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

so I am an expert Norba MTB racer....:)

and then, I cave in to the pressure from my roadie buds...

i get a CX bike and did my first CX race, 3/4 45 mins....and lived.
and didn't place that bad either :o

and being an MTb'er I reckon I got a lot of handing skills, because I saw plenty
of badasses go down on sketchy stuff but if you planned it right no reason to crater...;)

anyhow..lookit me now, the next day, freaking registering for the
very next saturday and sunday UCI races. :D:D:D

I guess I got the CX bug. damn you all to hell :p

one thing I lack is skill dismounting and running. I can do it, but no technique. reckon that'll
come with experience.

anyway...CX is fun. errr, wicked boatloads of ultra fun at least when the race is over !

it's like a dirt TT with dafting

yes I said 'dafting'

I think I'm going in the other direction...

A CX MTB racing buddy got me to try 'cross racing, and I have to admit, it may very well be the gateway drug to MTB racing...

Any long term denizen of the crack den is happy to see a new face.

Try to get off the bike going exactly as fast as you can run (and no faster) to maintain momentum and remount like you just stole it from in front of a 7-11. 'Sall you need to know.

yes I am totally regretting missing the first few weekends...but I didn't have a bike then...

next year I'll be pre-registered for all of them except overlap races.

in new england we have a problem with cx and that is too many to choose....
