Darling, I've dived out of Elsinore. The only thing that might kill you is the death trap they fly you up in, but otherwise, you should have a blast. I pulled something in my neck when the chute deployed, so make sure you're relaxed (as much as you can be) before pulling the cord. Are you going tandem or crazy enough to try it on your own? :D

are you doing the solo or tandum? I want to do it one of these days. My closest was a 171ft bungie jump into a pool. best 3 seconds of fear ever felt LOL

i would absolutely do a solo even though this is my first jump. but, since i have a friend with me i didn't want her to wait while i took the 6 hour class on the ground before going up to jump.

i want to get my license to jump solo so i'll go back later and do my first non-tandem jump with instructors, then the series of however many needed to get my license so i can solo whenever i want.

Have fun GoFast. My brother was in para-rescue in the military and the basic rule they had during training is first one that pulls the cord buys the beers.

In case you feel the need to not buy the beers, 59 is too big for me, what else ya got?

One of my friends that went with the group of us back in 2003 went on to get her license. A license and $6,000 later, she no longer jumps...

True. But trust me, Elsinore's little plane that takes you up to 14K feet is a little like cheating death, assuming you get out of it alive. I'm petrified of heights and I was itching to jump just to get out of it. It literally rattles.

Of course, they may have upgraded to a somewhat safer POS by now. For Lee's sake, I hope so. :o

I did it once and the World War 2 era plane was scarier than the dive. You're just hoping the plane can get to a safe jump altitude before you bail. And trust me you will bail because your only other choice is to land in that old hunk of scrap. Looks like I should of read the post above before posting anyways it looks like we had the same experience.

I'm scared of heights too but didn't stop me from jumping off a 17 story tower with a rubber band attached to my feet:D Was funny too cuz I was the only one that wanted to get dunked into the pool below. My GF said no was even close to hitting the pool then when I hit it, she was freaking out LMAO and was on the phone with my sister LOL

I did Elsinore about 25 years ago and the plane was a POS back then. Are they still using that Otter and that old Boeing rat trap? (I think it was a Boeing). Anyone know if they are using the glider chute technology and not the old WWII jump chutes?

Its an all day affair. I remember hanging out of the otter on the wing before I let go. Never did get to the point where I was allowed to pull my own cord, it was always tethered to the plane so it automatically pulled when you jumped.

I have a shiny coffin you can use. I'll just have a carpetner remove the interior restraints.

Great, thanks, Joy. Of course it really won't matter if the interior restraints are still in place considering what will be left of him. Pretty much, we really only need a shoe box with his name artfully painted on it.

And just this morning, the local news announced they had found a crashed Cessna 208 in the White Pass area of Washington. It was flying from Boise to Shelton fully loaded with 10 skydivers who were competing at a meet in Boise. There were no survivors. :(

skydiving is the shibby. i highly recommend all of you do it. i got to sit in the cockpit with the pilot while he flew the plane up to 13k feet before myself and my tandem instructor bailed out as the last jumpers.

i'm going back next month to do a accelerated free fall solo jump with 2 instructors. if anyone else wants to go we can make a fun group saturday out of it and all jump together.

i'll post a week in advance when i'm going so any of you can join in if you'd like. :)

Hi,

My motto: "Don't jump out of ANY airplane that's still flying!" :D

As a note, I helped design the system that the Army guys use when they jump out of a C-17. The system works great but I still won't jump.

Lee, I did a tandem jump about ten years ago, and have always wanted to go back and do an AFF jump. I may be in.
