I'm in the UK and in the process of upgrading from my (very ancient) Rockhopper and came across a 2nd-hand Cannondale for sale. I've seen it in the flesh briefly but am not sure what model/year it is - there's no clue on the frame. The frame is CAAD2 (white with silver 'Cannondale') and geometry seems to be quite like a trials bike, i.e. compact with very sloping top tube. Forks are P-Bone; seems to be a mix of mostly Coda with a few Shimano components elsewhere (and it's Gripshift). I can't find a match on previous models on the Cannondale website - anyone know what model it is? Also, I like the frame but have heard bad things about P-Bone forks and Coda gear. They do feel quite lo-grade compared to the Shimano I'm used to - what's the story?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Silk Trail 600? F300? Geez, I'm not really sure myself..

Sounds like a 1999 or 2000 Cannondale F300. It really isn't worth buying, just because the CAAD2 frame is very old and the CAAD4 is very cheap these days.

If it's got a P-Bone, you're talking mid to late 90's vintage. Pretty old stuff!
I'd take a PASS on this one!
What's your budget?

Ok- seems like it's not a great deal, although I'm still interested because I am quite keen on the frame and it's the right size for me! Budget is about £350 (up to $500) which is what this bike is going for. It's really hard to find second-hand bikes at the moment and I don;t want to buy new.
P.S. Sounds like the seller got ripped off - his 'friend' sold it to him for £700, saying it was worth over £1100! I've already corrected him on that one......

Probably was worth 1100, 7 years ago. Bikes are like computers, they depreciate as soon as you buy one! For 350 ($500 USD) you can buy a pretty nice bike, especially a used one. I'm surprised the used bike market isn't bigger. You must not be looking in the right spots.
