typical story. we have, what i think is a pretty good cat 3 team. the problem is that we have no financial support. many, if not all, of the racers are fairly motivated to work as a team. we would love to do more bigger races next year, but after you add up travel cost, gas, food, and race entry fees. its just not worth it at times.

so what i wanna know, how can we get some mulah. show me the money, baby. In a perfect world we would like to a have a free kit, race entry fees paid, and any extra would go to travel costs for bigger races. pretty much, no one in their right mind is willing to shell out some serious doh to sponser a cat3 team. so you guys got any other suggestions? some fundraiser of a sort?

organize fundraising rides, sell your jerseys, collect dues to sucker the people who never show into paying a share, work a pro sports concessions stand, solicit the hell out of local businesses who cater to your demographic, such as bars, restauraunts, or law firms and doctor groups.

my school team got a great amount from a company on the condition we put their name on the rear of the shorts!

win more, theres money in a lot of races. :)

Raffle.
Get a local sponsor to kick in something of value.
Then sell tickets over the winter.
We raised $5000 this way one year.
Gave away a $1000 Mt Bike courtesy of our bike shop sponsor.

Also, we stayed active in the community. Nobody cares about the racing results. So, find a way to tie yourself in with a local cause that potential sponsors care about.

Am I the only one who interpreted that as finding an Islamic religious and political leader for your team?

He could issue fatwas against your opponents, which would make it legal for you to throw hand pumps through their spokes.

find a rich dude to race for you. We are (starting in the spring) sponsored by the local Ace Hardware. The owner is one of the 10 on the cat 3 team. We will be getting 2 kits each, atleast 10 race fees, and some travel. Slightly skeptical, it sounds like a lot even for a rich dude.

do what all the other teams do... sign up as many cat 4 and 5 riders on your club to pay dues and buy kits and stuff at a slight profit and spend it on all the cat 3 racers
