I would love to come to Canada with my folding Brompton bike and visit Montreal,Quebec & Toronto with the folder.To photo some red maples in the fall would make the trip perfect..How late do these last and are these cities really the best place to see them?

Not sure about the other locations, but Ontario leaves are starting to turn now...should be peaking shortly, but it varies by location...Algonquin Park should be peaking this week or next...Collingwood, in a couple of weeks, Toronto, maybe in 3

But with the drought we've had this year, in many locations the leaves just turn brown and fall off...happening everywhere

Toronto has been dry, but other places have had seasonal rainful such as algonquin. Not sure about montreal, but the leaves won't be too nice this year in Toronto.

Perfect time is right now in the Ottawa region (between Ottawa and Kingston).

There is so many fallen leaves, you can barely see the trails.

Better do it soon! I think that the colours are turning in Algonquin Park right now. Next week will probably be the best time in Toronto and further south to Niagara.

I notice that the report is only Ontario and east. It seems that the changing of the leaves is an eastern thing. I couldn't believe that it was actually on the news when I moved here (Ontario) from Saskatchewan (and yes, there are LOTS of trees there IF you go north). I thought it was weird that people need to be told when the seasons change. With that said, I understand the bloke from the UK asking, given that he can't look out a window to see for himself.

The brightest fall colours and most striking contrasts are in eastern/central Canada, ie Ontario and Quebec (I don't know about the maritimes). Red maple against green pine is very dramatic. In the west, at least certainly in Manitoba (where I'm originally from) and I suspect Saskatchewan and Alberta, there aren't a lot of maples and you don't get those same brilliant scarlets. You get a lot of yellow.
