yea it def is. I saw the Premier this Sunday in NYC. Very fast paced and some really beautiful shots and awesome music. I don't think anyone can really be unimpressed with guys bombing down hills full speed. Even if you are a tuff critic there will be some parts you can be swood by

probably not true.... there are a lot of haterz here...
Quick, someone buy one of my bags.
The thing that really impressed me about it (saw it in SF) was how Mike and Gabe managed to capture the thrill involved of riding brakeless. It sounds corny, but it was a real adrenaline rush (maybe that was the rocket fuel coffee...).

With the book, for $40 it's totally worth it. The book is rad, amazing photography, etc. It's put together really well. The cool thing about it is the book that comes with it isn't a throw away, or after thought like most other DVDs.
Consider it a book AND a DVD for $40.
if i wanted a book id go to starbucks

haha.... these guys worked really hard for three years to put this together. You should definitely share it for free over the internet. That way the next time someone wants to spend their time and money putting something like this together, they'll think twice about it and maybe decide it's really not worth it.

Gabe (the filmmaker) was talking about trying to set up a day where a bunch of LBS and community groups and whatever could hold screenings. A lot of small documentaries do it to build some buzz and get seen by people. Keep an eye on their blog and it could happen in your town....

here's a crazy idea:
go to the mash blog and find their contact and shoot them an email. Tell them you want to see it and show it in your town and would love for them to either come show it or send you a screener kit. Then tell them that you would love to host and organize an event (maybe with some ghey flatland fixed gear freestyle tricks) and open up your local bike community to them. I bet they would like that and guess what? you would be boutit boutit instead of talkin' boutit.

someone said a portland screening was already planned, though.

I ordered it even though I don't think any movie is "worth" $40. Think about the biggest baddest Hollywood blockbuster ever made and think about how much it cost to buy? $13.99 on release day and maybe $17.99 thereafter. This is twice as expensive for half the movie, half the expense.
But just about everything coming out of Hollywood these days is mindless/soulless crap.

Well...I ordered it! I think its totally worth the $40. Think about it as a special collectors edition of a hard to find movie. and then on top of that you get a book that is worth just as much, and you get a surprise something maybe.
$40 is totally worth it too. 2 Hrs footage, 1x 1xx page book + more?
BF is filled with a bunch of cheapos...but what can I say, I can also just wait till someone puts it on the web.
the quality of **** posted on the web sucks.
just buy the thing.
I'm pretty sure neither gabe nor mike are making a killing on this.
I will be happy if they do make some coin though....

that is poor logic. first, you have to take note that the hollywood movie business is a major corporation. they make a lot more money than something as small as mash. they can, in turn, afford to sell dvd's for a lower cost. additionally, if you ever look at collectors item dvds (not implying that the mash dvd is a collectors item but in regards to additional material, ex. a book) the common list price is somewhere in the high thirties. you also need to take note of the fact that major corporations who sell dvds, such as best buy, are often selling below the list price, if not just above it. this does mean that they do not make much of a profit off the dvd itself, but the loss is written off as an advertising expense. the theory is that, later when you are looking to make a larger purchase, ex. a nice tv or dvd player, you will go to their store on account of how cheap you bought other items.

yeah this is certainly not a big high volume hollywood production. $40 (dvd + book) on a low volume , indie film isn't so bad, just think, when you pay that $40 you know that at least it isn't funding a ridiculous tom cruise movie in any way shape or form.

This is laughable. First you want to compare Mash to a $30 collector's dvd set (which is at least 20% overinflated) then you admit Mash isn't a collector's dvd. Then there's some idea that dvd's are loss leaders. Wow.
