That sounds like fun.
Too bad it's too far for me to go. :(
That sounds brutal! Probably not as bad as when we played on motorcycles, but you could still come out with a lot of battle scars.
NOOOO I missed it :( :(
good news!!!

We might be doing this weekly now. Well atleast until the weather starts to turn for the worst.
how many people showed up last week? I'm going to try to make it there this weekend to at least watch. I was just wondering if this is a "pixie" style bike event or are all bikes welcome?

All bikes are welcome. A number of the people are on fixies (me included), but there were geared road bikes and a couple of mountain bikes too. We had 13 last week. I did a random draw for teams and most people got to play two games. We had one person show up late. But, it worked out good because one guy had to leave after his first game to go to work. Last week it started to rain so I think with decent weather many people will be willing to stick around and play more games. Don't worry about equipment as I have everything we need to play. Just bring yourself and your bike!!!
To those that are going to be driving there is parking on the street right in front of Wheeler park along Depot street. Cicky to yahoo map showing Wheeler (http://maps.yahoo.com/print.php?q1=depot+and+5th%2C+ann+arbor%2C+mi&mlt=42.28803&mln=-83.744439&resize=l&mag=1&zoomin=yes&ovx=620&ovy=500&ds=n)
I'm gonna do my best to get there even if I only watch. I get off work at 7:15 am so I should be able to get a good nap in. My lady is a little nervous about the whole idea, especially considering the muscle spasms in my right side due to a pinched nerve in my back but if I take the valium like the Dr. says and have her push on the trigger point (causing horrendous pain) the spasms aren't so violent and don't happen often. So, I look forward to coming, but might have to sit it out. should be one heck of an experience either way though and a break from all the stress of work and nursing school.
First off, I want to say thank you for such a wonderful new experience!!! That was me on the grey Marin with the folding grocery baskets. Polo was great fun but it was also great to see some amazing bikes and what people could do with them. I'm actually surprised I only took one good fall and actually expected to hit the gorund a few more times. Got a few bruises that I can't show off to just everyone but they were totally worth it.
Any chance the videos are on youtube?
thanks again and I'll try to be there next week too
Jimmy needs to get some of those videos up.
Today was a good time, sucks that the weather is getting colder.
We on for next week?
wish I could have made it yesteday. I was just too tired and ended up taking care of "family business." I hope to get back out there next week if it's still going on
Yep, we are going to try and play next Sunday as well. I hope to be recovered enough to play next week after my (not so) little fall yesterday. I have a copy of Jimmy's DVD he burned of the polo footage. I am going to try and figure something out to get it up somewhere.
Can't you just throw it up on YouTube?
How you feeling after the spill?

I really haven't looked at the footage yet, myself. I will see what I need to do to try and get some of it up on youtube. I think Jimmy said they are in little 30-40 sec. segments.
I am extremely sore after my fall. I don't think I will be riding tomorrow for the alleycat. I will be there, but I don't think I could handle riding much right now. Walking up and down stairs is a little painful right now. I fixed the spill damage on my bike today. The front wheel was messed up and I trued it. I did notice I have a couple of spokes that are bent from my front wheel goalie defense, but I probably won't replace them until they break.
Ah, well I'm sure you'll be all right by Sunday. I myself can't make the alleycat...pointless concert I must attend for a class tomorrow night

I hope you recover well. since I wasn't there this week I didn't see it but I understand the potential for one heck of a fall. I consider my fall the week before little but I did end up with a nice bruise (about 2.5x4 inches) on my leg that was swollen for a few days. sore for a few days and then only after "the boys" bumped it. I consider myself pretty lucky that I only fell once especially since it was my first time out. That and an inch or two to the right and I'd probably be singing soprano....
P.S. I hope Aaron had room in his jeep last week when he got to your house
