Mountain Biking - Building a new bike, words on frame and suspension

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hi, i am in the process of building a new MTB for paved/gravel roads. I already got my new frame, a GIANT XTC Team, 17", it was listed at weighting only 1400 grams, but when we weighted it, it was 1550, but thats fine, the frame looks awsome.

Anyone know if this is a decent frame?
I am also going to buy a Shimano XT component group now to put on it.
I ordered a hard fork for it, aluminium, until i can afford a suspension, but it will work fine on the track i bike.
I where going to get one of those Manitou Skareb super 2003 suspensions, anyone know if this is a good choice?

I wouldnt put my money on lightweight forks. I would choose anything from marzocchi. lets say Marathon S or MX series. The frame is good though its a strictly XC bike.
I have heard many good things about this Manitou skareb suspension though, i often read what people have to say about part on mtbreview.com, and other place, and this fork gets good rating, and its not heavy. I wonder how many grams the marzocchi S/SL forks are.

It's a good frame, primarily a XC design, so don't go hitting large drops and expect it to hold up. The Skareb's are good forks, kinda pricey, but good. For lightweight fork though, the RockShox's are hard to beat. They've got the whole lightweight race fork thing down.
The Marzoochi's are good, but also very pricey, and IMO, not as good as the RS. Marzoochi's are better know for heavy duty abuse oriented DH and FR forks.

Pace in the UK make a carbon fork for light offroad trail riding.
I dont realy know what fork i will go for, i`m almost sure that i will end up with the Skareb super 2003 fork. Though, i am always ready for advices.
Anyone know anything about the Shimano XT 2004 model? I`m also up for consideration on what to get, XT 2003 or 2004. My dad tells me to go for 2003, since the new 2004 system is not good (dont ask me why, but he says so). The 2004 was using some reverse shifting like the (new) XTR or something.
