Great Lakes - New bicycle

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well the CFO (my wife) has OK'd the purchase of a new bike. I have been thinking about this for a while. No internet purchase, no not even a LBS, I decided to go directly to the LBF (local bike factory). I figure if I go directly to the manufacturer, I can get what I want. So I traveled the 0.8 miles to the LBF - Waterford Precision Cycles.
I was fitted and ordered a 2200 with all stainless lugs (italian) with the matching steel fork with SS crown. Should be ready about Christmas time - so I can stare at it until spring.

Sweet. I really like Waterfords. Nice having the factory so close. I have done the K-R bike club ride twice. The second time I think I did it just to see Richard Schwinn again. Nice guy.
Great bikes.
I just built up my Waterford today after having the frame repainted. I will try to post a pic of it.

Was seeing Richard Schwinn eating questionable brownies really worth the wind to get back to the start?

Here is my Waterford. Please ignore the bar tape. I will be putting on the Brooks matching bar tape later this week.

Do they offer any road type bikes other than the traditional Rivendale-style offerings by Herron (which uses Waterford tubes)?

They offer everything. Mostly racing bikes. Check out their site...http://www.waterfordbikes.com/
Not very Rivendale-esque.

That bike has a great look. But the wheels are a little too high tech looking. You should paint over the rim logos, or go over the rims with steel wool.
