Can anyone give me a design or drawing to give me an idea to make a chain whip ??

You can easily duplicate Parks' chain whip by using an old BMX or any 1/8" chain and a nice 1/8" thick, 2" wide, a foot long piece of scrap aluminum. But I think it's cheaper to just go out and buy the real thing....

I tried doing this in the '70s and had problems with the rivet pulling out at torque levels well below what I needed. Parks whip runs $15 or so and is well worth it. FWIW the ends of the 2" al strip are beveled at about 30deg and rounded off on the end of the bevel to a 0.5-0.8cm radius. Steve

Thanks for your replies , I needed to strip two 6 speed screw on freewheels to replace the third sprocket which is worn on mine,I wrapped a piece of old chain right round the big sprocket & clamped the two ends in the vice & used a pair of Stilsons(pipe wrench) to loosen the locking rings , the job worked out OK .

I usually use 6" of chain and a vise-grip pliers.
