View Full Version : Cateye wireless- weird problem
I've had the Cateye micro wireless for about 4 months or so (450 miles). I had it installed by my LBS and have never had a problem with it up until now. Yesterday, it all of sudden stopped working. Oddly, it turns on with no problem, I'm able to program the different settings, and the clock works fine. However, the mph gage and odometer don't register. I changed the battery figuring that was the problem, but no change. Does this mean it's not the battery? Anyone else ever have this problem? Thanks
Check to see if the magnet is still aligned with the speed sensor, and also try positioning the sensor closer to the magnet.
Don't forget that the sensor also has a battery and you have to realign the unit to start again.
I tried changing the batteries on both the unit and sensor, still didn't register anything. Then messed around with the allignment of the magnet and sensor, same result. Deanp, what do you mean "realign the unit to start again?" Simply having everything in line or do you have adjust the sensors in a certain way?
That is the term used in the owners manual, it means to just start over like it was new unit. You have press and hold the reset button on the sensor unit for about 5 seconds. You should get a confirmation on the display. Get your manual out and follow the set-up steps again.
Sadly I figured out the problem. I referred back to the manual and kind of skimmed the whole thing over again. It mentioned that when the weather gets cold (good old Wisconsin), the sensor needs to be closer to the magnet, so I put the magnet on the same side as the sensor and that seemed to do it. Kind of a weird thing, but at least it wasn't a major problem, Thanks for the help guys
