Hi,

... but I did beat my (modest) goal for last Sunday's 20K TT on Fiesta Island in San Diego. Told myself that I needed to go under 30 min for this flat 20K TT and I did -- official time 29:52. :o They listed my average speed at 24.97 MPH.

Since I always set TT goals that I never seem to be able to achieve, I was happy that I achieved this one. Ended up 9th out of 22 Masters 50-59. What was even better was that I was within a minute of a couple of guys who usually beat me by more than 2 minutes in 20K TTs. :) In fact 6th to 9th were separated by less than 50 seconds.

This was also a small consolation for me as I had set a goal of going under 1 hour for 40K before I turned 50. I did two 40K TTs this year and didn't make it. :(

The only bad thing is that this was my first time doing a TT on this course so now I have a fast (for me) benchmark for this course. ;)

So now I get to do a hilly 11 mile TT tomorrow. :)

Hey, I'd be patting myself on the back! One thing about goals you don't achieve, contrasted with the ones you do, is that you may actually outdo what you would have done had your aspirations been lesser. My goal is usually just to survive whatever I try, and so far, I have achieved that. (Sometimes, even that is surprising.)

Congrats on a great TT. Fiesta Island is a fantastic venue for TTs.

With respect to posting race results, post away. There are several of us who race and speaking for myself, I am interested in what others accomplish.;)

I don't race. But to accomplish any goal is real pickmeup. If you have a goal and beat it I think it should be posted. Congrats!

Hi All,

Thanks for the kinds words. :)

Rode another TT today (Santiago Canyon course) and I was shooting for a sub 30 minute time on this 11 mile hilly course. It had rained up until about an hour before the race. The roads were mostly wet and a bit scary on the descents. I was 1 mile from the finish and my computer showed just at 28 minutes. The finish is basically downhill and I was going 30+ MPH on this stretch. Stopped my computer just after I crossed the line and it showed 29:49. :D However, when I got back to the start where they posted the official results, the board showed 30:01. :( Not sure why my computer was so far off but, c'est la vie.

:beer: I assume this was the one with more hills that you mentioned above. How much elevation change?
