Valley Riders,

I may be relocating the the Amherst/Northampton, MA area and I'm curious to know if there is a bike path connecting the two towns. I know RT.9 has awful traffic and I'd like to avoid that road if possible. Also, how is Northampton Bicycle? I'll need a good LBS.

I appreciate any info on this.

Cheers!

There is a path between Amherst and Northampton, and there are alternate road routes that keep you for the most part of Rt. 9.

Northampton Bike is a pretty good shop.

Excellent. Thanks for the info. What are your thoughts on Laughing Dog?

I live in Amherst, so I use Laughing Dog and Competitive Edge quite a bit. I have found them both to be good to work with. I think you will like cycling in the valley. It is a pretty nice place to live.

Great to hear. I currently live up the road in the Bratt/Keene area - also a great place to live and ride - but have always liked the Valley and everything it has to offer in terms of culture. I just have never done any riding in the area.

(BTW, went to Mimmo's in Noho for the first time the other day. The largest slice of pizza I've ever seen in my life. :D)

Anyway, thanks again.
