View Full Version : Just Ordered a Dinotte 600L and 140L Combo.
https://store.nexternal.com/dinotte/images/600L-140L-300.jpg
I just ordered a Dinotte 600L and 140L combo... I really didn't need either, but with the parity of the Canadian dollar, I just had to :D
I'm not sure how often I'll use the 140L, however just could not resist the combo price of this unit. I'm more interested to see how well the 600L works, and hope it isn't much of a hassle to use daily with the separate battery bag during my daily dark winter commutes. Currently my Planet Bike Alias HID is so slick and easy to use for daily commuting. I think I just wanted a new toy.... I think ;)

where did you order from?
Direct from Dinotte
I also ordered the 600L with the standard lens rather than the wide... If I need more light I'll just add a Wide later for the wicked Duals ;)

Thats great, can we get some of your high quality comparison photos between the 600l and your HID.

For sure Kleng, thanks for asking :)
I was told the 600L shipped already  The 140L is coming a bit later, as I just told Rob at Dinotte to Supersize combo my order

:roflmao:
Great post 2many, it totally conveys the sense of abandoment :) I actually feel slightly guilty ;-)
I do love Betty, but for $500, I get a killer combo, that is good bang for buck.
I suppose I could have went all out and chose Betty, but thats a significant investment at nearly 2x the price.

Wow, One of the great HID users on BF.net has fallen for Dinotte.:D
I can't wait to hear your review.
I think you will like the 140L taillight as well. If nothing else you can add it to your current lineup and use it on full instead of flash. Although I found that after having one I could remove pretty much all of my other blinkies.

Yes this is a must I'm wondering about the 600L beam pattern. If the beam is tight with little waste of the light out to the sides. My Lights + Motion HID wastes a bunch of light to the sides. If the beam pattern is tight I'll buy the 600L even if it's only 600 lumens compared to the L+M at 675 lumens.
ViperZ Enjoy your crazy bright tail light and new head light.

 It will be interesting to see which one gets the most use :)
The more I think about it, the more I'm pumped about this 140L as well :D
About the only reservations i have at this time is it is very quick and convenient for me to remove my Planet Bike HID and Super flash each day as I lock the bike up. I'm hoping the Dinotte set ups will surprise me and not any more cumbersome as it seems on paper.

I gave a bit of thought to the beam pattern as well. The pictures I seen of the 600L standard does look like a tighter pattern. I thought I use lights like this typically when there is snow on the ground, as such will get more than enough light reflectance to make up for the narrow beam. Time will tell...

Very cool, ViperZ. This combination has made my very short list of "possible future purchases" in bike lights. Love it.

Just use the HID, the Dinotte and other lights at the same time.
If motorists think a supernova is travelling slowly through the area so be it.

I just ordered their standard model headlamp system, the 200L. I want to be ready when the days get shorter here in a few weeks. Can't wait to try it out and do some serious night riding.
I've been doing a lot of research and lurking for the last few weeks and this seems like a good reliable light. It has good reviews and it seems to compare favorably to other lights. At $169 it's a little more than what I had originally planned to spend but the cheaper lights didn't have as good reviews as the DiNotte.
I mostly ride very lightly traveled, hilly, gravel rural roads. I need something reliable to light up the potholes and roadkill and this seems like the light to do it.

You need one of these babies.

Too bad it won't mount on a helmet easily.
I'd like to get one to supplement my current light. :)

I just got this same set up about 2 weeks ago. I will reserve my opinion and review on it until after you get a chance to use yours and see for yourself. I don't want to bias your review...............
By the way, I did get it on your recommendation, sort of. I looked around at a bunch of LED based lights before I finally picked this one. You definately have to use it more than once before you write a review.
I ordered one too :)
Got one 200L, decided it wasnt bright enough, ordered a second so I can rock the dual, then decided I might as well just get the 600L while we're at it. More money was spent on lights than my commuting bike!

Interesting dgasmd... I'm really looking forward to it now and seeing how it compares to your findings http://www.htguide.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_scratchhead.gif
Today was the first day I sparked up the Alias HID for my commute home (although it wasn't really dark enough to be required), it sure was nice to be notice by traffic, again! I forgot how many stares this light generates from motorist

Two for the handlebars one for the helmet or you're woefully skimping on lumens. Some would say "maliciously skimping" (but those would be DiNotte sales reps). Just trying to tell it like it is. :p

More light! Must have more light! Two of those 600L's should be the ticket. At times I ride with ~1400 lumens and it's not overkill at all in certain situations and I get about 4.5 hours runtime at that level and that's plenty for me. The only thing I have to worry about is not running over critters where I go and the more light you have the more likely you are to see them ahead of time. Well except for those silly bunnies that run out of no where across your path.

Actually, Dinotte suggested the dual 200L would do the job well for me (and to get that instead of a 600L), it was my own desire to add a 600L to the mix :)

Just for grins, I wish the DiNotte guys would strap together one of these from multiple 600Ls (at least long enough to take a photo). It would be one of those "Do Not Look Directly at the Helmet" scenarios. ;)

I run dual 200L's and it has been plenty of light for me. Even on windy downhill bombs.

Just realized a dual handlebar 600L + helmet 200L rivals Lupine's new Betty lineup in terms of lumens but at a significantly lower cost.

I like it:D! Too bad about the high voltage wiring from the batteries to the head units.
The Trailtech MR16 and 4" have the ballast electronics enclosed in the head unit, no HIGH voltages to worry about, just run 12 volts. :)
Take you brackets and mount 2 x 4" 40 watt HID at 3250 lumen each and no need to worry about being electrocuted by the high voltage wiring. I guess that would be a little overkill.

That's a lot more weight and battery charging to deal with though.
So, did you get it yet? It has been 5 days since you ordered them!

When I got home there was a small box waiting for me out front. I think I was successful in rerouting your DiNotte box to my address. Cool! :D
Oh . . . I guess I shouldn't actually be bragging about that, though... :o
