Just thought I'd start a thread where I can post our rides on SART instead of starting a new thread when I have pics to post. I like taking pics of new and old friends so I'll post them here!
Today October 13th. Rained most of the early morning. Thought it would stop by the time we reached the Sart. I was wrong. Not a drop on the way but once we mounted our bikes, it started with a hard drizzle. Later in the ride we stopped at an underpass for the rain to lighten up as it was pouring pretty good there for a few minutes. Good thing I broke out the beater bikes cause they got purty muddy. Now I get to enjoy the task of cleaning them up, oh joy!
Not many riders at all in the morning, saw maybe 6 riders. By the time we reached HB, it was raining. Only stopped at the beach stop for a few. Thought we'd get back as we didn't want to set out there wet for too long. It was raining pretty hard at the beach stop. As soon as we headed back, it all stopped. Half way on the return, the sun came out, then a handful of late riders.
Gina was a bit sad about the moisture but she's a trooper!:D
SAD GINA!

I asked Gina if she wanted to go. She said she doesn't want to do hills but still wants to ride. So what can I say?:D...Eh, I did hills during the week. Nothing tough but my legs are fried, maybe old age!:o

Oh, I thought I was going to see you both there.
It's not that bad Beanz. It's pretty much an out and back. If the climb is too much there are scenic pull outs where you could wait for the group to return.
If Gina can do GRM this is also doable. Come on out and have some fun.

October 14th, Sunday. Great weather but started out with a flat 4 miles into the ride. Guess it was a bad way to start off the day. As I'm working on the flat, Robert stops by ( BF'er Mad_one52). He has a problem unclipping and down he goes. Ouch! Was a pretty hard fall and the blood didn't hesitate to flow. After the shock left he gave me permission for a pic to post on the forum. The seat on his new Madone was somewhat twisted. Hope it's an easy fix. Also a brief glimpse of Nacy, but too fast to photgraph.
Ran into Octico on the way. Took a pic of him and his wife Kris with 'The Smile'! Then Boyd down the road. Informed us that the group was at the rest stop waiting for us wondering if we were going to show. Darn flat tire! Finally reached the coast and had the usual chat and laughs with the gang.
Then the nice ride back. Finally somewhat of a tailwind. Ahhh!

October 21st. Boy was it windy today! Forecast says 30 mph with gust up to 50. We decided to start at Lincoln just incase the wind was too much for Gina. After the ride she'd have the choice of heading to Imperial and back with me. We headed towrds HB and noticed a few cyclist really struggling. Gina said she was worried cause she hadn't seen so many grown men look like they wanted to cry. So we turned around at 7 1/2 to head back. Wind wasn't too tough, just annoying. Some sections felt like a wind tunnel, they were tough but didn't last long. Did notice that there were far more branches on the trail than on the way out. At times Gina would ride on my side looking for shelter from the wind. A big gust would blow, she'd counter balance and actually bumped me twice, not a tap, big bumps! No damage but I figured it was a bit too dangerous for her skills. We stopped for a quick potty stop at the pond. That's where we encountered the big 50 mph gusts. We stood there holding onto the bikes for a few minutes. Dirt blasting the legs and face, ouch!. We headed back to Lincoln where we encountered many more branches on the trail. Some big enough to block the entire road. Neither of us really tired but I decided to just pack up and go home. Figured the road to Imperial has many more trees which means many more branches in the road. Bummer, not much of a ride but we will live to ride another day!:D
Dude head down fighting his way back against the wind!

Nice report Fred sorry to hear about the wind, but you already knew what you were getting into when you left home. Boy am I glad I did not ride today, aside from the fact that I cannot. I did the Mud Run at Camp Pendleton yesterday and to say least I am sore. WoW now I know why I don't run ... it hurts.

We start at Imperial and the 91fwy. Either East of Imperial at Yorba Park (not the pay to park, the free one, we're poor!), or on the West side of Imperial, parking lot right behind In-N-Out/Aaron Bros Artmart. Depends on availabilty at the park. Then we ride SART to the PCH. Stop at the beach stop right at the end of HB (towards Newport)

Hey guys! I rode down PCH from SGRT to SART (Seal Beach to HB) on Saturday and the wind wasn't too much of a factor. On Sunday I kept local in Fullerton because it was way too windy that day. Glad to hear you at least attempted the SART. Can't say the same for my self.
By the way, my bike is fine, but I think the seat is way too tweaked and I'm going to have to find another one. My right hip is really sore.
See you on the road - mad_one52 (aka Rob)

Hey Rob, glad to hear it's the seat and not the fancy seatpost or seat tube! That's a 2008 Madone right? Maybe we should swap bikes till you break in the new shoes and cleats!:D

Saturday 10/27
Did a 50 miler on SART. Sky was ugly and very similar form Upland to Yorba linda. I rode with the plan to turn back if I had problems breathing. Ugly sky but no problems at all. Couldn't taste the air. Smelled a bit like a fire, but nothing too strong. The Mt Baldy fires a few years ago was much worse as far as air quality. I had ash all over my face and body. This time nothing.
Sky was much nicer at the beach area. Not too many riders on SART but plenty on PCH!:D

Hey I seen you all out there. I also started at Imperial but my buds/budettes started up in Corona. That wind was killer though. I felt like I didn't get enough riding in so I continued on up the hill with them into Corona and felt good the whole time , then I turned around into the wind, wow, made the trip back very interesting. It kind of felt like you were climbing when you were riding downhill. We do this ride on an ongoing basis for our training rides (who knows what the hell were training for though) I'll introduce myself next time.

Nov 3, Robert unexpectedly showed up at the parkinglot. Ran into to eachother along the trail. Kevin too who has BTW lost 30 lbs and riding stronger than before. I held a good pace to HB, picked up a couple riders along the way. 42 miles ride at a 17.65 average. Also ran into an old friend Mike. Haven't seen him for a couple of years. Dude has a new ti bike, a Merlin. He also has 3 steel Peggorettis. Says the steel is much better than the ti. I'll never know, too much dough fer me!:D
First pic is right before the group reforms after crossing the wooden bridge.

Hey Beanz,
I saw you and Gina this morning just south of the 405 and called out "Mr Beanz!". I had just finished helping out two damsels in distress, change a flat. When I stopped, they were pretty clueless, they had 4-6 tire levers on the wheel, but weren't close to getting it off. I changed it for them and got them on their way. BTW, any of you that can't fix your own flats, at least keep your bike clean, for those that help:p It felt good to help out, and made their morning.

Nov 4th, Sunday. Nice ez ride. Gina was tired from Saturday so we slowed it down, but tried to look fast when OCRoadie rode by!:p Met the usuals at the beach stop. On the return, we ran into a gal named Chris. She was out there alone so we joined forces. Got to talking and sure enough the bikeforum subject arises. She seemed very interested in all aspects of cycling so I suggested that she join. I think she's ready for a forum ride!

No biggie! I saw your twuck in the lot when we arrived. Figured that you had started a bit earlier. It was even colder when we finished, darn time change. We spent a lot of time out there on Sunday. On Sunday's, the river trail is the last 6 miles of my 70-80 mile ride, and I'm usually running late  Normally, I'll drill it to the wood bridge and then sit up until Talbert, where I hop off. Next time I see you guys and I'm not trying to get home before curfew, I'll stop by to say wut up.

Wow did we ever luck out! 50% chance of rain but we took the bet. Not a drop from the sky. Dark, and cold at times but overall not bad. There were a few times of beautiful sunshine too. I figured no way was it going to rain on us today. Gina took advantage of the day to test her new windbreaker, she likedid it! Ran into Lucas along the way so we rode together to the coast.
For the first time we met OCroadie. I was really shocked, supernice friendly guy, AND much younger looking than I expected. Like always, I took advantage of the situation, took a pic for the thread!:D..Nice meeting you dude!

Beanz can probably explain it better, but...
It is a bike trail that follows the Santa Ana River ( a flood control chanel),
Goes from Huntington Beach to, I think at least green River in Corona.
Can ride for a long ways, and never cross a street!
