I see this thread has really gone to some wonderful places. Try asking this in the family section. They have more experience with these types of bikes.

Height/Weight?
How often do you ride?
What kind of terrain will you be riding?

You'd probably be fine with either of them. They're both well spec'd and would make good commuter bikes.

Without riding either, I'd choose whichever one's on sale.
