Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Source for cheap LED headlights/taillights?

I'm thinking of buying a bunch of cheap "be seen" LED headlights and blinkies so I can hand them out to lightless cyclists. I like the cheap ones I find from Hong Kong on eBay, but buying them one at a time and shipping to the US is prohibitively expensive. Anybody have a source in bulk?

Also check out the keychains here (http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.900). They are like the LED turtles but for the keychains. Batteries included and you get 10 per package. The only downer is that you need to go to your local outdoor shop and see if you can get electic cord that can fit through the keychain hole then tie your own little loops and see if it'll hold on the handlebar. If so then you've got a front light.

I don't see any red lights tho there is something here (http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.900) (look for the multi color package one) and they are apparently only momentary-on and on/off). The lights are on-off and momentary-on. While that is good for most folks riders would like the blinking but given the fricking ninjas out there anything is better then nothing before a matter of time I run one of them over (many MANY close calls and tire taps). Heck even a white light as a tail light is better then nothing.

A friend of mine (gosmsgo on this forum) is getting a small set of lights from Planet Bike for $6 per set. He is doing a similar project, giving them to light-less riders and we sell them at cost to our bike education students. I think he is getting them from our LBS but you might email him and get details.

Why would anybody need to give lights away to lightless riders? They can't afford them? If they are not "bright" enough to make the purchase themselves, I don't see any reason to give them away. Lights that cheap would be of little help IMHO. Please educate me. Thanks.

Well in my experience some people just can't afford them because money is way too tight guess it depends on where you live and when you ride. I have seen people walking their bikes and was told their tire wouldn't hold air for more then a few miles but that almost got them to work. They had access to a air source but didn't have any luck patching the tube.
I have also found don't realize a lights value until they actually use them and someone tells them they could easily see them or a car/pedestrian actually takes notice. Cheap lights for "be seen" lights are better then no lights at all.

Read the fine print. Web site tells you it Ships in 7 to 9 days. Then it takes a while to make it across the Pacific Ocean and whatever delivery service they use at the airport. You are getting it shipped free and your not paying tax on it although that may change soon.
