Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was at the maxwell street market this morning and saw a blue Cervelo (Duel???) for sale. It had TT bars w/bar end shifters, Ultegra group, look pedals and Vitorria tires (new), didn't make out the rims...the bike looked to be a few years old and completely out of place at the market.
If anyone knows of one that had been stolen, I saw it at the booth at the far north end of the market (north of Roosevelt Rd, near Taylor st.). Bring proof of the serial number and have a cell phone ready...try again next week if they already packed up and went home...
good luck.
Mike
Um, er, what price were they asking? When does Maxwell open up? Lust is one of the seven deadly sins. I feel it.

Let's juts say the asking price was way too affordable, and like everything else at the market it is negotiable. My first reaction too...then I thought better of it.
Whoa that's horrible. I would have bought it and waited for the owner to come forth. It would have made it easier for the owner to find their bicycle.

or me to be stuck with a "new" bike I don't need/want, in addition to providing thieves cash in hand.

I made the mistake of buying a bike there once when I was a broke bike messenger 15 years ago. The very next day, I bumped into the owner at work! It had been stolen only 2 days earlier. So being the standup guy that I am, I immediately handed it to him. However, he was a total jerk about it and got ME fired! In retrospect, I should have asked him for a serial number, taken me sledgehammer to it, and brought it back the next day and said here it is. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I grew up going the the Market and should have known better....
