Hi guys,

I just installed a cateye astrale on my road bike, and I've noticed that when the magnet goes past either sensor, there's a slight beeping noise. Its as if the switch (or whatever is inside the sensor) makes an audible noise whenever the magnet passes. I've checked my enduro, and I haven't noticed any noises coming from that sensor. Has anyone ever encountered this? The readings seem to work fine, but at slow speeds, hearing a bunch of beeping can be kind of annoying. Thanks

Henry

It's normal.

When the magnet passes the sensor it trips a little switch. The Cateye Astrale makes that noise more than any other computer I've encountered. I notice it more when the bike is on the stand than on the road.

To my ear it is more of a click than a beep.

I think it's a feature of the product. You can tell immediately whether the magnet's being detected when setting up or doing trouble shooting.

It doesn't bother me. I kind of like it, now.

Thanks for the replies guys. I just thought it was wierd since my cateye enduro didn't make the same noise.

LOL! I looked down two days ago and my cateye said that I was going 128mph! I'm improving quickly but I had no idea I was getting THAT good! :p

It went as high as 170 and as low as 2mph while I kepted a pretty steady speed.
