Does any one know of any good single track around the Pine Belt. Before I joined the Coast Guard I use to ride 40th before they extened Lincoln Rd. I went back around Christmas time of '06 and all the old trails were gone. I'll be getting out of the Coast Guard Spring of '08 and I'll be looking to make some new trail and maybe start a Southern Mississippi Mountain Bike Association. Shelby has some good terrain. I-59 north of Jones has some good rolling hill that would be perfect for some good single track. I anyone in the Pinebelt likes to ride and would be intrested in started a Club. If we could get about five People to start with building bridges and keeping the trails riden would be easy. Once we build a trail or two we'll solicite new member's and really kick off a Mountain bike movement in and around H-burg.

Boo Dawg,

Glad to hear that others are interested in building some singletrack in Hburg. I have been working on this for the last couple of months. We have a group of about 10 guys in this area that are willing to work on trails if we can find a suitable location. Currently we have two options...the first being Tatum Park. We have permission from the city and Chip Tatum to build trails along the perimeter of Tatum park and across Bonhomie rd along an old sewer line. We just need to finalize a proposed trail map for final approval. The second option is to build trails on property that I believe is owned by the USM foundation. The land is next to the Longleaf Trace west of Jackson rd.

Shoot me a email if you want to discuss further: m52roland@bellsouth.net

Also, check out msmtb.org....this is a great forum for mountain biking in Mississippi.

Matt, Cool. thanks for the Links. Yeah like I said i live in Jacksonville, Fl for now. I'll be back in Mississippi for good in the spring. But i would love to get involved in the new trails. I'm hoping to eventually get mountainbiking into the Highschools in the area as an extracaricular activity.( forgive my spelling.) There's tons of great terrain in the Pinebelt for Trail's. Keep me posted if you and the 10 guys you mentioned have a meeting. If it's on the weekend I'll try to attend. I come into town just about every weekend to see my Kids. Also if you have a myspace account send me a friend request. My user name is Boo Dawg.
