Southern California - October 14th Fun Ride Pics and Reports Here

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Thanks again Joy for organizing this ride. It's was fun meeting new members and talking to some of the BFers. I didn't take a lot of pictures but manage to get a few of a bunch of posers standing around their bikes:)

Ganado... this (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=353492) steepness for two painfully long blocks. Then a bit less steep, with even a brief section of ever so slight downhill. Which is just a short respite before it gets a bit steeper for a little while. (Not very long, happily.) Then another respite, if one can call a steady high single digit grade incline a respite. And then a set of corners through a yet steeper section before the climbing is done.
It's been awhile since I've done PV, and I didn't recognize that street. I'll have to check it out one of these days.
April's ride report is here (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=353571).

I tried to get everyone's mug shots before the ride, but some arrived just at roll time, and some met us a long the way, so I will try to finish compiling them from other peoples' photos. There were 36 of us in all (I think). Here's what I have so far:

That's so awesome, Joy - it's like a mini yearbook!!! Now, if you can alphabetize and align them, that'd be great. I'll get the poll started so we can vote for categories like, "Most likely to succeed" or "Best body," "Most artistic," or "Most likely to veer off the bike path to fondle a half-naked surfer," etc.

After Jim's "money shot" hit me square in the face, I had to get some measure of revenge!

I didn't know that Cleave's helmet comes off. I thought it was part of his head.

No. We all knew.
And I thought it was a cute touch to ride almost-matching shiny non-geared bikes . . .

I grew up just below that neighborhood. In high school my friends and I would bomb Ganado on our skateboards, we once had a car clocking us at 50+ mph

We did went north at first. North on bike path, then southbound back on the street crossing over at the car parking lot again before heading south. I just played follow the leader and I like the scenary. :)

I never looked at a routeslip, so I still don't know if that detour going North was planned or not, but at the time, I was very confused. It brought Lemmings to mind.
It was good to meet so many SCBF folks & a special thanks to Joy for putting the whole thing together-
made for a great 1st real ride back after 2 months off the bike!

Damn I'm so mad I missed this ride. I ended up stranded in Sherman Oaks with no way home (except an expensive cab ride) and didn't make the early cut.
Looks like it was fun though!

Joy, I am on my way out of the office, but wanted to thank you for all your work putting this fun ride together. BTW: My urine was dark yellow when I got home so I bulked up on some red wine, shrimp, asparagus, black beans and halibut.

That’s akin to the players dousing the coach for a job well done!! The intent was affection!!
