Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

... on the BF rides. I'm sure there are more female bicyclists out there, so why can we only get msincredible to represent? Yea, I know ... the ride may have to be less testosterone ... just wondering ...

... and where might that be?
Some planned, yet very causal rides might entice some of the more lurkerish types. You know, no massive climbs, a more leisurely pace, that kind of thing. Take it slow and take in some scenery kind of thing. I can see how some of the regulars might not be interested in such a thing, though. :)

+1.
We have great weather, varied topography, fun people -- some of us just can't afford the travel time to where you Bay Area folks are.
Come on over!

^^^ He remembers what I must have told him why I can't go.
I have excercise induced asthma and can't climb. :(
I recently PM'd Siu about riding with us but because of her asthma she can't do big climbs. I think it'd be nice to have a nice flatter leisurely ride so Siu can go with us. And frankly I'm not a good climber so an occasional flat ride would be cool.
Red, set up a ride up your way and if the boss allows I'll ride with you guys since my bro-in-law lives in Fairfield. I've ridden the Winters ride you gave me a while back and it was pretty nice. Although I think I need to take it in the opposite direction because the climbing was at the back end of the ride and I still had about 10 miles left to go to get back to my in-laws place. :)

[EDIT] See siu's post above me. :)
My gf would... but she thinks you're all freaks. But she says by next year, she should be in good enough shape to ride the 3500 miles out there.

Alrighty then -- why don't we look at the 27th or 28th? I've got a nice ride in mind -- plenty of flats for you non-climbers. ;)
This will be fun! :D

I might be able to do the 28th if we're gonna be done relatively early.... :p and also depending on the mileage... haven't been on my bike in a while :o

I just PM'd you too :p I'd just have to be done in time to pick up the kids.... it would also depend on the mileage and whether or not you'd be willing to hang back w/me ;)

28th would be better for me too...the 27th is the Worker's ride for Foxys that I was planning to do. I'll be doing the 64 mile option counterclockwise over Cardiac, so nice flats the next day sounds good to me!

But you need to shave...:D
Vacaville would be great. Rides in San Jose-ish are two-hour drives for me. Not that I mind too much, but closer and flatter would be nice. :D

I'm all up for a flat ride ... I won't lead it, because I seem to like punishment ... whereever it is, let me know, and I'll be there ... the BF Need More Women ride :D
I may be mistaken, but I do believe you mean "Need Moar Wimmins."

How's about the Stocktone/Lodi area? Too bad the delta velo century is 11/4 (same day as a CX race).

The 28th sounds good as long as we start around 8-9am and are done by 1-ish or have a short route option. I have a playoff game that evening in Daly City at 6pm. :)
If the meeting area is near Ray's Bike Shop I can just ride over from my in-laws on Peabody near Travis AFB.
And my final request, please no Cantelow! hahaha!

Hey not all chicks want easy and leisurely rides. :)
So far the BF rides just have not fit in with schedule. I hope to make it to one eventually.

Gee3 just PM'd me to tell me about the 28th. I'm asking for the day off, let's hope I get it off!! YAY!!! *does happy dance* :D
Edit: DANGIT. I just looked at my calendar and my best friend is coming out on the 30th and is planning on seeing me on the 1st and 2nd (same week). I can only get off two days........:( *ends happy dance*
I guess I can't go........This sucks. This is sure nice of you to plan this though. Please remember me for the next flat ride?

You all are missing the best part of spring riding. There is no reason to start rides early. Its cooler out anyway. Sllep in eat a good breakfast and begin rides between 10am and 11am. Now through winter is the only time to start late and not boil. Ill be posting up a ride for november. It wont be long but it will include climbing, and some epic views. No need to be afraid of the climbs as the steeps are early and the last 19 miles is downhill.:D

The ride I have in mind is a variation of what we call the Winters Loop...downtown to Pleasant's Valley Rd., to Putah Creek, to Bryce Rd. to Allendale, to Timm, to Cantelow to Steiger Hill -- no, Gary, no Cantelow crest unless you want it. :D Approximately 40 miles, most flat, a few small rollers, and a short, easy climb at the end. The last few miles back into Vacaville are downhill.
It's nice to have a fun ride pretty much out your back door. As I said before, we don't mind traveling, but regular 1-2 hr. one-way drives to bike 4 hrs., then 1-2 hrs. to drive back aren't always realistic for us. We try to be as flexible as we can.
And for those that can't make it -- just holla when you want to ride up this way. We'd be doing this ride anyway, only we'd add the hills. :D
Looking forward to the fun!

one of the not so great things about being up here is that you can't just ride from the front door (okay, I have one route that I can do that with)... so I have to travel to ride... when I get really busy, its much harder to squeeze a ride in!

I know this is probably not geographically correct for some of us, but I thought I should put it out there anyway.
I have the opportunity to lead/sweep a short, flat ride on Sundays from Alameda to wherever. It's usually 20ish miles at about 13-15mph pace. I got my wife involved in this, so anyone is welcome.
We meet at the Alameda Kaiser building at 9am Sundays. Come a little early, get some coffee at your favorite source (Starbucks, Peet's, other), and enjoy the ride with us!
