After taking a 5 week hiatus off the bike, I'm back on it. I started a new job with a large construction company as a field lube technician, I go out and change oil and filters. The pay is better, but the hours are longer. Now that I'm caught up, I'm getting Saturdays off and decided to get back on the bike. Not my usual 30-50 mile hammerfest, but a casual 18 mile ride with some intervals.

I've lost some weight with the new job, as there is never any down time. No more grazing on junk food, no more fatty fast food lunches, and plenty of water. I pack a cooler every day with water, two sodas, two sandwiches, two fruit cups, and a bag of chips. Lunch can come anywhere, sometimes miles out in the woods at a mega development .

I'm going to try an after work ride tomorrow with some lights. I haven't gone out at night in two years.

I do most of my riding at night which is nice, especially during the summer. Much cooler, but then again, also much cooler in the winter. I love night riding now.

Ain't it grand, when work keeps you going all day, doing physical stuff, you can eat your head off, and still lose weight:D. Makes you feel sorry for the poor sods that sit at a desk all day, they eat a leaf of lettuce a couple of grapes and an almond, and still gain weight.

Field Lube Technician, eh? They used to be called "Oilers."

Welcome back to cycling.

Welcome back to cycling.

I have no clue what the job used to be called. I'm coming from 10 years in a bike shop to this.
