I'm considering starting with a fresh rig, riding the piss out of it and slowly upgrading from there opposed to continue to upgrade my '99 GT Aggressor frame, it's a good frame just out of date and I'm bored of it.

These are my two hardtail considerations, I'm still tossing around the idea of fs since the lbs has a couple last year clearance deals but I'd be happy with a hardtail since I can appreciate the old school function as well. What do you guys think about these two models? How would the Yukon compare because I know the Hardrock is a versatile setup, is the Yukon similar?

I dont know much about the Hardrock from personal use.
But among other bikes, i have a Yukon in the shed.

Its a great little bike. It can take the trails for sure, and its a good commuter too. Nice and comfortable, not on the racy side of geometry. Nice and relaxed. Im not sure about the US spec, but we get Dart forks (i think its a 3 for 08, but mines an 06 with a Dart 2) and low end Shimano discs. They work well, but if youve had bikes for a while and are a good rider, maybe you should look at something a bit more upper level? Say a Trek or one of the other Giant Hardtails?

I Just bought an 08 Specialized Hardrock Comp about three weeks ago, and I Love It!!! Its light for entry level bike, ok forks, drive chain etc. Ive started the upgrade of parts already and its ideal bike for a work in progress.

The best thing about this bike is the frame, its as strong and as rigid a Mother Fu**er.

I weigh about 82kg and the forks hold my weight perfect, Ive only rode this bike off road on technical trails and fast loose fire roads, its taken alot of punishment and Im so glad I bought it!!!!

Buy It, or at least test ride one!!!

I've been riding the 07 Yukon since April and have been very happy with it. I've been happy with all the Giant bikes I have, very few problems.

I know from experience that that Hardrock is a good buy, one of my riding partners has one and we both approve of both the frame quality/geometry and components.
