She's a 2002 Jamis Ventura touring frame - brand new, never built up, total cost $US195 (including some very reasonable postage).
Love that colour.
Reynolds 520 steel frame and forks.
Same size as the Europa ... more or less, so I'm hoping she'll be a perfect fit (such as these things every are with bikes).
She'll become a gentleman's sportster ... more commonly referred to as a 'credit card tourer'.
Skinny wheels with 28mm tyres.
Ultegra level (I hope) 9 speed with triple ... or non-carbon Campy Chorus (?) or rusty old friction shifters from the box out the back.
My Noodle handle bars
My Brooks saddle.
Carrier.
Lots of decisions to make, and they'll depend on availability of parts vs suspension of responsibility :D

Beautiful. Man do I love the look of the geometry on that bike. Beautiful color. I absolutely love the look of steelies.
Campy alloy Chorus will be a hard to find and costly. Centaur or veloce would be perfect or a 105 setup. Forget friction, she's nicely set up for brifters. Or maybe bar ends? Hmmm...
Blackburn rear rack is all you need for credit card touring with one side bag. Full fenders...
I would go with 32c on the tires, for those times you want to detour off the road.
Like you said ..... lots of decisions.
Your pictures convinced me that I need a steel fork on my Jamis 2004 Cyclcross Nova. I converted it to a bike for unsupported centuries and hate the carbon fork that came stock with it.

Oooohh! Nice frame, europa. She's gonna be a sweet rider, alright, an' I love the color. Keep us posted as she gets built.

you can still get 2006 centaur new. All aluminum, w/o that goofy "escape" shifter that the '07 centaur ergopowers got
my son has a 2005 jamis ventura sport. Its a totally different frame than that ventura (totally - compact geom, 7005 main triangle and stays, carbon fork) but it is a really nice ride. I hope yours is just as nice! Love the color too, almost like Ugo blue

Sounds like a fun project.
Can't wait to see the finished product

You know that the tooling cutters for that frame were turning in a direction contrary to frames made for southern hemesphere use. Rather than let you proceed with a project that might be dangerous to you I would be willing to take that frame off your hands for a small nominal fee. I would not want inaction on my part to place one of our friends from down under in jeopardy....;)

Nice looking frame. I'm sure it will build up into a good bike.
I see it with a Sugino XD triple crank (more options for chainring sizes with the 110 BCD), 105 derailleurs and bar end shifters. NOS Suntour friction if 8 speed or less, Shimano indexed if 9 or 10 speed.
But that is just per my preferences and may have no similarity to what you would prefer.

Definitely brifters, not bar ends - I like to change gears a lot so having them under my fingers is good.
Definitely need a triple in this country. Thing is, how much lighter than my Trek520 is this going to be and how does that affect my bottom gear? Do I need to go as low as I am now (26 front, 32 rear) or can I go back to the more usual 30 front? Definitely keep the 11-32 cassette - onya SRAM for making them, pity they don't make a triple front shifter.

Its going to be 2-3lb lighter than your trek (I'm guessing its tig welded steel from the pics), which is maybe 1-2% of the total weight of the bike and rider. In other words, you should probably keep the same gearing you have now.
