I just bout a Trek Helmet.. seemed like a descent one. I have a sweaty head and it seems like I wear out the padding very quickily in my helments. ANy Ideas on what I can do?

Wear something on your head! Like a bandana or a sweatband or something.

i got some cool max bandana's from a runners web site, the were like $12 a piece which i considered kind of expensive for a pice of cloth (guess you pay for the swoosh) but they work pretty well and seem to keep my helmet from geting stinky.

On many helmets, it's easy to detach the pads. Once in a while, I throw them in the washing machine.

Bandannas sure can be a solution. But I use a very thin speedo-style swimming cap. This has several advantages:
(1) it is very think and you don't feel any bulk under your helmet.
(2) it is very light and breathable, wicking sweat away from your head and keeping you very cool.
(3) it prevents you from being driven crazy by gnats and other flying critters that find their way thru your helmet air vents.
(4) you can wash and dry it in a flash.
Sweat pads on helmets fill up within minutes of riding if you are going uphill on a hot day.

I use a very thin Coolmax bandana that I picked up from Price Point (http://www.pricepoint.com/). It's thin enough that I hardly notice it under the helmet, but does a great job of wicking sweat away and keeping the rivers of the stuff from running down my face!
They're kinda pricey at around $12-15, but seem well worth it to me for the added comfort they give. Highly recommended.

Halo headband! Very thin under the helmet. Headband channels sweat to the sides......never down into your eyes! $13....
