Is there a way you can access the whole Craigs list area if you are looking for a specific item instead of having to go through city by city and state by state? I know a lot of you use CL to search for bike parts and was wondering if there was an easier way. Can I put in say Brooks b72 and have it show in various parts of the country instead of having to go through area by area?

Thanks
Bob

I set up a craigslist folder in firefox for the three cities near me and then choose "Open all in tabs." I don't think they want people mining the whole craigslist for deals. Google searches will sometimes bring up Craigslist pages but usually they seems old.

It's an intentional 'feature.' They want CL to be local only. I subscribe to RSS feeds for the closest cities. Or do what Mendel does.

Bob,
You may be wasting your time checking distant Craigslists. Most craigslisters won't take checks/moneyorders and won't ship stuff.

If you go to crazedlist.org it will search whichever cities you select.

In fact, Craigslist itself recommends this. See the highlighted all-caps #1: http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams.html

I won't ship, take checks or deliver. You want it, come get it... and bring cash.

google.com
Search: "whatever you are looking for" site:craigslist.com

It'll return some older stuff as well but will give you an idea. Of course if you find an older listing of something there is always a chance the person might still have it.
